CSC Global Financial Markets

Mandated by President of Global Financial Markets to build a standalone finance function to support the fastest-growing division with a revenue CAGR of 30%.

Recruited, trained and developed a best-in-class finance team of 25 supporting Funds, Capital Markets and Corporate Services across Europe, US and Asia.  A structured training & development programme plus business process improvement reduced finance overhead from 8% to 2% of revenue, month end from working day 8 to 4 and improved aged debtors/cash collection by 30%.

Completed successful and smooth global implementation of NetSuite ERP across 30 operating entities in 3 years.

Led team to design and deliver an advanced billing engine with sophisticated data analytics to support decision-making for ExCo and ensure financial targets met.  

Combined experience in global FP&A and knowledge of financial markets to deliver accurate and meaningful budgets and forecasts.

Led financial due dilligence and finance integration for three successful acquisitions.

CFO, Global Financial Markets

Part of original team of 20 ex-Intertrust colleagues tasked to form a start-up Capital Markets Europe business in competitive market against well-established players like TMF, Intertrust, Sanne and Vistra.

Built a 7 year budgeting, forecasting and valuation model tracking EBITDA, Balance Sheet, cash flow and resource planning.

Improved profitability of client accounting service by 25% through automation of financial reporting, audit liaison and tax compliance by implementing Caseware.

Achieved 7 year growth plan by year 4 and CSC is now completing a €2bn acquisition of  Intertrust to become the world's largest privately-owned global service provider.

Leading the recruitment, development, retention and well-being of a talented, client-focussed, intelligent and hard-working team.

Managing the UK's operational requirements for a growing office of 70+ employees.

Director of Finance, Operations And Human Resources (London)

SFM Europe

Prior to acquisition, SFM Europe was a leading provider of corporate services including independent directors, corporate governance and accounting services to SPVs on behalf of major institutions engaging in securitisations, structured financings and asset acquisitions, disposals and restructurings.

In 2015, I took on the CFO role for the sale of SFM Europe.  I produced the 5 year forecast model, financials for the Information Memorandum, was part of the 6-strong presentation team to potential acquirers, managed the finance Due Diligence process and delivered the SPA finance completion requirements.

SFM Europe achieved a double digit Compound Annual Growth Rate in revenue from 2011 to 2016, well in excess of market benchmarks.  Over 10% of that growth was enabled by the finance initiatives listed below:

2016: Completed finance integration projects within 5 months (changed year end and audit firm, completed interim audit, transitioned to new reporting processes and format, reduced month end timeline by 50%).  This achievement was praised by Deloitte audit partner in audit review meeting.
2015: Upgraded Ireland timesheet system increasing time-based revenues by 10%.
2014: Migrated 3 countries to a Group Finance System which resulted in annual resource costs savings of 33%.
2013: Created a centre of excellence of Cash Management in Dublin and Funds Accounting in Luxembourg.  Redeployment of resources increased client revenues by 22%.
2013: Chaired Panel at Real Estate CFO Forum in London.  This led to new client revenue of £250k.

Finance Director, Europe

UK head of business line providing accounting services for over 120 entities to Investment Banking and Private Equity clients.

Introduced a performance management approach to build a highly motivated team focussed on building on existing client relationships as well as establishing new revenue streams.

2011: Launched new tax service to clients resulting in a six-figure annuity income from year one.
2010: Upgraded UK timesheet system resulting in a 33% increase in time-based revenues.

Invited to speak at the Global Asset-Backed Securities conferences (Brussels) on key accounting issues in 2013 and 2011.

Director of Client Accounting & Finance, UK

HSBC

Led a team of 5 accountants who were collectively responsible for the planning, reporting and financial control of an annual spend of $1.1 billion.

Worked closely with the HSBC Securities Services (HSS) executive of global IT and Business Unit heads to control an annual budget of $160m.

Co-ordinated the HSS annual and rolling budgeting processes with the IT Business Manager.  Developed streamlined process to deliver daily global plan updates to achieve plan completion to deadline.

Developed a proposal and training document to achieve a unified reporting approach across all Business lines in 43 locations.  This gained buy-in from Chief Operating Officers, IT Product Heads and Business Managers and the new approach was adopted.

Finance Relationship Manager - Team Leader

• Delivered quarterly Group management accounts to the Group Board and Audit Committees.
• Worked closely with the Group Finance Director to prepare quarterly consolidated statutory accounts under IFRS.

I am a CFO with a career spanning private equity, investment banking, central counterparty clearing, wealth management, trust and corporate services, telecoms and sales.

My view is that you’ll get the best out of people if you treat them right, and the best out of people gets the best out of the business.

I've been blessed to work with and learn from the most talented people in financial services, and am happiest collaborating with business leaders to make a positive difference and with aspiring finance professionals to fulfil their potential.

Away from the desk, my main passions are martial arts and music. I have studied White Crane Kung Fu for over 20 years and have found the lessons in physical, mental and emotional resilience invaluable in my career (e.g. annual budget cycles).

I’ve also continued to curate an ever-growing treasured vinyl record collection of over two thousand records that I continue to enjoy on my now vintage original DJ turntables.
