Back in 2018, I made a decision that changed the course of my life. I gave up a CFO role to step into something unfamiliar: a career in financial services.

I didn’t have all the answers then. I just knew one thing, I wanted more control over my time, more purpose in my work, and more meaning in the way I helped others.

The corporate world taught me a lot. But it also made me realise how many professionals who work hard, manage million-dollar budgets often don’t have the time or clarity to manage their own financial lives.

That insight became my starting point.

Today, I serve professionals like engineers, doctors, and accountants as their trusted adviser, helping them structure their cash flow, plan for retirement, and prepare for their children’s future through a simple, practical 3-Step P&L Financial Guide.

Tonight, I just attended Daniel Leung FCCA MSID 梁俊然’s 4th Work Anniversary celebration at the AirWallex office and honestly… it was one of those nights that reminded me why relationships matter so much. 😊

As usual, it wasn’t just a “work anniversary party”. Daniel had painstakingly prepared all his heartfelt message to each of his invited guests, how he knew us and dedicated a slide to each of us. Door gifts are prepared with personalisation with awesome and healthy snacks from Yuet (Emily) Chu and beautiful office space by AirWallex. 

It was a night filled with laughter, stories, good vibes, and the kind of conversations that happen only when people feel safe, connected, and genuinely happy for one another.

I’ve known Daniel for close to 6 years now, and I’m truly grateful that our paths crossed. From being in the same network, to building a friendship over the years, and eventually having the privilege of serving him and his family as their trusted adviser.

I thank you for the trust not just in the policies… but also in the relationship.

He requested me to sing a song during the event and honestly it causes me a couple of sleepless nights thinking what song should I be singing. My best song doesn’t suits him when it comes to lyric and after many rounds of selection, I choose a song that I seldom sing (becos it’s difficult for me) but the lyric completely describes him as a person. I did some disclaimer and “strategic editing” and thankfully it turns out ok. 😂

What I also enjoyed most tonight was getting to meet so many new friends like Darren Chew , Yvonnea, Shu Fen Kok Samantha Chan FCA Simon Ma Cherie Sim Yuet (Emily) Chu Lawrence Pang Katherine Ang Esther An Alan Wong Joy Gai . They are people who are sharp, humble, and full of positive energy. 

And of cos happiness come from seeing familiar faces of close friends like Nicholas Chan, FCCA, CIA, CISA, C.A.(M), CA(SG), ASEAN CPA Chee Siew Fai, FCCA, MSID Hendrik Jap Jun T. Having took a leap of faith in 2018 to give up a CFO role in commercial and embarked into a totally new journey in the insurance industry, I would said it was the best decision I made. 

Currently, I work with busy Professionals (ie Engineers, Doctors, CFOs and Accountants) as their Trusted Adviser and Personal CFO to set up effective cash flow management, plan for retirement & their children’s dream education fund using a simple 3 Steps P&L Financial Guide.

With most working professionals, they spend years, working long hours, climbing the corporate ladder, taking care of the finances of dozens of companies - BUT they invest very little time to take care of their own finances.

Coming from a 12-year stint as an accountant from audit, MCNs and start up, I know the struggle and I wished someone had helped me with managing my cash flow at each milestone of my life.

So I carefully devoted and researched the most efficient way  to improve my cash flow which gave me a start in the Financial services industry.

Uncertainty isn’t new.

What feels different now is how quickly life can change: health, income, responsibilities.

Over time, I’ve noticed something interesting.

The calmest people I work with aren’t necessarily those with the highest returns.

They’re the ones who planned early. 
Avoided over-complication. 
And focused on resilience before growth.

Peace of mind doesn’t come from reacting faster. 
It comes from deciding earlier.

Before making any major financial decision, I often ask clients to pause and reflect on three things:
1️⃣ What risk am I actually protecting against?
2️⃣ Who is affected if I’m wrong or unprepared?
3️⃣ What would future-me wish I had decided today?

If a decision can’t answer all three clearly, it usually deserves more thought.

It’s a simple framework.
But it has helped many people slow down and decide with more confidence.

Sometimes, clarity is the real return.
