US Army Corps of Engineers

- Authored two internal ERDC basic research pre-proposals for FY25 that have both moved to full proposal (in-progress now)
- Built internal tools with BASH, Julia, R, and Python for improved scientific workflows, including:
    --- A Python class to easily extract and query large datasets from simulation logs. Uses numpy.
    --- Two internal GUI applications using pysimplegui to calculate mechanical properties from
simulation data
    --- An R code to automate the fitting of a series of segmented regressions to stress-strain data
generated via mechanical deformation LAMMPS simulations, accelerating analysis by a factor of 1000.
    --- BASH scripts with command line argument switches to easily specify wall-clock time, queue, number of nodes and cores per node, and simulation input deck, and to submit to the supercomputer queuing system for two simulation codes 
    --- A Julia module using a custom struct for reading and manipulating large-scale molecular topologies (hundreds of thousands of atoms)
- Collaborated with a small team on an internal GitLab-hosted Python module for computational chemistry
- Compiled computational chemistry codes regularly for use on the US Army supercomputers
- Published four first-author papers, three on structure-property relationships of polyamide 6 and
one on adsorption of the urease enzyme in arid soil 
- Co-authored five published papers with ERDC and Michigan Tech collaborators

ORISE Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Chemistry

- Created a semi-automated protocol that uses Julia and Python to create new polymer molecules and pre- and post-reaction templates faster and easier
- Extended a Python class for reading and manipulating molecular topologies with new functionality
- Wrote numerous BASH, Julia, and Python scripts to extract data from log files, determine and build molecular topologies, manipulate atomic systems, network analysis, and general data analysis and visualization, among other applications

Contributed to an internal U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ERDC basic research pre-proposal for the 2022 fiscal year that moved on to the full proposal stage of evaluation.

My research supervisor was Dr. Wen Zhou, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Michigan Tech. I became familiar with a modified version of an anaerobic digestion model created by Sarah Piccard and the IWA Task Group. I simulated an experimental data set using MATLAB to determine the accuracy of the modified model.

I am a lifelong learner with a passion for solving problems with computers. I use supercomputers to build better materials and to understand why they behave the way they do. Some of the projects I have worked on include designing next-gen polymer composites for deep-space vehicles and force protection, investigating lightweight and eco-friendly substitutes for cement, and optimizing the ballistic response of a multilayered nanomaterial.

I am an expert in computational solid mechanics of polymer composites. I am familiar with density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics (MD), micromechanics (MM), and multiscale (MS) simulations. My software packages of choice are GPAW/ASE (DFT), LAMMPS (MD), and MAC/GMC (MM/MS). I am always eager to learn new software. 

I am right at home with any kind of computer system, be it GUI-based or terminal-based. I am skilled in BASH, Julia, MATLAB, Python, and R.  I am an experienced troubleshooter (also known as a professional Googler) of programming bugs, compilation errors, and operating system glitches. I use Git to version control my personal website, my research, and my resumé/CV.
