I have 15+ years of experience as a Patent Paralegal specializing in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution. I remain dedicated to staying current with the latest developments in U.S. and foreign patent regulations (i.e. MPEP and 37 CFR ) through continuous learning, attending webinars, and reading about intellectual property matters. PATENT PROSECUTION: In my past jobs I filed numerous applications daily with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). I also assisted with filing up to four responses a week. Reporting filings to clients and requesting instructions was a vital part of my role, and I ensured that all necessary formality documents, such as declarations and powers of attorney, were properly signed by inventors. TRAINING AND MENTORING: Trained and mentored up to five Patent Specialists and Legal Assistants. My contributions include creating a comprehensive legal assistant training manual and preparing training materials. DOCKETING AND DATABASE MANAGEMENT: Generated specialized docket reports to review with attorneys on a weekly and monthly basis. Stored and saved patent documents and emails into iManage. Downloaded client instructions and uploaded patent filings into client databases. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Opened new matters, prepared engagement letters, ran conflict checks, prepared and submitted expense reports, prepared correspondence, and reserved conference rooms and offices. - - - - - - - Being a Patent Paralegal is a challenging job where there is the stress of meeting billable hours and meeting tight deadlines. I am always ready for a challenge where I can focus and hone in on some of my other skills: attention to detail, multi-tasking, and communication. This type of work also requires follow through, the ability to juggle attorneys of different personalities, patience, teamwork, leadership, empathy, and work/life balance. One of my proudest accomplishments is the successful training of new Patent Specialists and Legal Assistants. I enjoy seeing the smiles on trainees’/mentees’ faces when they accomplish tasks for the first time. Another accomplishment is public speaking. One of my goals is to be a member of a Toastmasters club. My passion for public speaking began as a sixth grader. I had the opportunity to host the class’s graduation ceremony.
