Vontive

Vontive is a series-B investment mortgage startup that has financed over a billion dollars to date and is backed by Zigg Capital and Founders Fund.

As a software engineer on Vontive's data products team, I was responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and adding features to our pricing engine, the API used to generate pricing scenarios for a multitude of financing products, including short and long term financing. These included DSCR loans, bank statement loans, construction loans, rate-term refinances, and more. My boss built this software before I was there, and I was hired to manage, upgrade, fix, and add features to this repository so that he could focus on leading our team.

In addition to many small feature requests, pricing guideline and policy changes from product, and bug fixes, I did the following
- added a suite of automated united and integration tests
- added a "historical pricing" feature, migrating databases and changing pricing functionality to support repricing using a prior date. This made manual repricing a thing of the past, saving considerable engineering and ops hours.  
- built a full stack internal tool that let our Capital Markets team propose and change all of our pricing policies, base rates, and pricing LLPAs, supporting over 300 different pricing policies for all of our long term pricing products 

I was laid off at the end of January 2024 alongside 50% of the company. The tools and infrastructure I was building were not critical to company cashflow, and business priorities shifted to a more cashflow centric approach.

- Created an AWS Lambda serverless API to read and write data to the blockchain for different clients, minting, transferring tokens, and synchronizing data to our backend.
- Wrote, tested, and deployed ERC721 and ERC1155 smart contracts for music, sports, and gaming NFTs.
- Performed research on new blockchains, created subsequent POCs and specific product requirements

Co-Founded a company providing Instagram micro-influencer marketing to Gainesville restaurants. We created pricing structures, hired over a dozen Instagram influencers, and provided influencer advertisements as an agency. I managed sales, working with multiple Gainesville restaurants and reaching out to internet companies.

Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa 

Participating in a six-week program through the University of Florida Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, working on a team consulting two underprivileged clients in Cape Town, South Africa. 

One of the only incoming sophomores in the program, I worked with graduate students and other undergraduates on a team of five, analyzing two client's businesses, writing thorough business models, and implementing a series of deliverables that targeted and solved the clients' major problems.  

These deliverables included bookkeeping systems, new marketing materials/processes, sales training for the entrepreneurs, and optimization practices for their business operations. 

By serving the clients, my paradigm shifted from "student" to "professional consultant", helping me transition into the professional world.
