I work as a Staff Barrister specialising in employment law. Work I have been involved in includes:
- Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court appearances
- Mediations and various 'without prejudice' discussions
- Representing diverse range of businesses, numerous CEOs, General Managers and a range of other senior executives and employees generally
- Representing and advising employers and employees on workplace investigations, disciplinary and performance improvement procedures, restructures, negotiated exits, workplace compliance, employment agreements and policies
- Representing clients in relation to the whole range of personal grievances: unjustified dismissal (for serious misconduct, redundancy, medical incapacity), constructive dismissal, unjustified disadvantage
- Drafting (responses to) personal grievances, Statements of Problem, Statements of Claim, legal submissions, affidavit evidence, memoranda to the ERA/Court, Records of Settlement, employment agreements and policies, and various correspondence
- Co-presenting legal seminars, chairing legal summits
- Providing media commentary

EY Law New Zealand

As a practising lawyer at EY Law specialising in employment, privacy and health and safety law I provided wide-ranging advice including:
- advising employers on their obligations towards employees
- advising clients with regard to employment disputes including in relation to unjustified dismissal/disadvantage, medical incapacity and redundancy
- drafting a wide range of employment, contractor and secondment agreements and policies 
- advising on the Holidays Act 2003 in relation to all types of leave payments
- providing written reports on employers' compliance with the Holidays Act for a variety of clients in the public and private sectors
- advising clients on workforce restructuring including employment law due diligence for mergers and acquisitions
- drafting employee share schemes and advising clients on their obligations in respect of these
- advising on all aspects of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- advising domestic and international clients on their obligations under the Privacy Act 1993 and the General Data Protection Regulation in Europe
- co-authoring a number of articles such as: LawTalk - "Will employees and contractors survive in the gig economy?" (April 2018); NZ Herald - "Ten top employment law changes for 2018" (January 2018); IAPP - "GDPR match up: New Zealand's Privacy Act 1993"; Employment Today - "Health and Safety - Moving beyond zero harm" (July 2016)
- preparing articles, seminars, commentary and client correspondence concerning a wide variety of areas, for example:  changes in employment law, bullying and harassment, pay equity, the Holidays Act, and proposed legislative changes in privacy law.

I have also assisted the Corporate and Commercial team in drafting and reviewing resolutions, contracts, company constitutions and shareholder agreements.
