Prior to embarking upon his doctoral studies at Cardiff University, and throughout his career in the Jewellery Industry, William (Bill) has always sought to give the best possible customer service and to train staff to do the same. This in turn has paid dividends with a growing list of successes in Bill's career. Having started on the shop floor as a jewellery salesperson Bill has worked his way up through the business to management positions and has enjoyed successes in departmental and store management capacities. This has recently culminated in Bill's election as a Fellow of the National Association of Jewellers, an honour he is exceptionally proud of. As a jeweller and conservator, Bill has always been driven to exceed, this is an ethos he has carried throughout both his life and career. Currently he is a Commission Jeweller, a designer, and has been practicing as a Metalwork Conservator since completing his masters. In this field, Bill was accepted to West Dean College to pursue a a series of courses leading up to a Masters Degree in Metalwork Conservation, which he succeeded at. Notably, during his first year Bill was the South Square Trust Scholar in metalwork conservation, and was subsequently successfully nominated as the Langdon-Dowsett Scholar for the 2014-2015 year at West Dean College. This was further added to by his successful nomination as the Radcliffe Trust Scholar for the same year, and in the Conservation of Fine Metalwork. Bill was also awarded the Edward James Trust Grant two years consecutively. In addition to this, Bill has worked with some of the best practitioners in their fields in the jewellery industry, to broaden and deepen his knowledge. This includes work with numerous master stone setters, and a master goldsmith and polisher. Bill has also worked with internationally renowned metal artisans, such as Fabrizio Acquafresca, the Repousse artist/designer who created the bibles for the Vatican and for the past three papal seats. Most recently Bill completed an advanced level setting course with master stone setter, Pjotrs Kuksjonoks of Hatton Garden, in the discipline of micro stone setting. Specialities outside jewellery and conservation directly, include business development, sales training and motivation. Bill is always happy to be approached for consultation work and jewellery and metalwork conservation advice.
