Played an active role in the Chemicals, Materials & Food (CMF) team where I was responsible for preparing client deliverables, conducted independent primary research with industry experts, cross-referenced primary data with extensive secondary market research and contributed data-driven industry insights for ongoing projects. Some of the modules I was in charge of - value chain & margin analysis, competitive profiling, market trend analysis, cost structure deep-dive, market sizing and pricing research). The nature of projects included packaged coconut water, indoor strawberry farming and beef production.

I was a member of Team Bosscrew which managed to become one of the top 10 teams that made it to the finals, out of 200 teams from prestigious universities in Malaysia & Australia. It was a great learning experience as this case competition absolutely tested our ability to think creatively to solve probing tasks that included marketing innovative IoT products, transforming the education industry in the face of digitalization, and developing the P2P financing industry in Malaysia.

I was one of 2 students selected amongst 10 applicants from UCSI University to be a part of the ACCA Student Ambassador Program 2019/2020 in charge of moderating training sessions, planning on and off-campus events like Career Fairs, Student Meet & Greets as well as executing proprietary events such as online webinars, accounting-related challenges for my fellow accounting and finance students to enhance the traditional learning experience.

Being a part of the Key Opinion Leader (KOLs) team for AIESEC UPM's Youth Innovator 2020 was not only a great opportunity to promote the spirit of youth empowerment to fellow UCSI-ians but also an incredible chance to meet with inspiring student leaders across the country who share the same passion for personal development. As for the past 3 months, I had meaningful conversations with various student organization leaders and departmental heads with a mission to spread awareness towards an amazing series of workshops aimed at upskilling youths in terms of personal development and critical thinking. My voluntary contribution also includes curating promotional content, sharing personal insights and testimonials, collecting and analyzing student feedback, and engaging stakeholder communication.

Industry Insights 2020: Redefining Expectations was an insightful 2-day virtual event, filled with challenging and perceptive case studies curated by renowned partner firms such as Sunway, EY, Axiata, AirAsia, and Maybank, to test participants' ability in critical thinking, time-management, and creativity in problem-solving. Pre-event reports also gave an opportunity for participants to dive into the vast implications of the COVID-19 pandemic in various industries as requirements directed detailed research into areas such as smart city development, urban farming, digital finance, 5G transformation, and etc. I2 definitely redefined expectations of fully virtual events and overall served as a great platform for personal development as participants not only improved their cognitive abilities but also essential soft skills as online team collaboration played a crucial part in teams being able to overcome each challenge.

2nd Runner-Up | Team 7 @ Industry Insights

Enactus Nottingham Malaysia 

My team was given real-life business cases involving companies from different industries: automotive, telecommunications, fintech, and talent management. 3 hours were given to challenge our abilities to dissect these cases by identifying different problems and directions and to propose practical, robust and innovative strategies in order to tackle the most daunting issue which was then presented to key industry leaders in their respective fields followed by an interactive QnA session which tested our ability to think on our feet and justify the thought processes behind our proposition.

My team got into the semi-final rounds after getting 1st and 2nd place in the first two opening rounds. The 3 hour long cases included companies such as Ford, Telenor, and IIMJobs.com where we had discovered our potential when it comes to different roles in case cracking: strategist, financial analyst, slide master, marketeer and etc. Overall, it was an insightful experience and I would recommend other students to grab the opportunity to participate, although sadly past participants are not allowed to join more than once.

It was an earlier exit than we what hoped but this shouldn't bring us down too much. We did our best and that's all that matters. 

The only way to go from here is up!

SWKL 2020 was a great platform for students and aspiring entrepreneur to build skills and experience what it truly takes to not only ideate a business but also find gray areas to solidify the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of value proposition towards stakeholders as well as pitch the brainchild in front of talented and esteemed judges who have years of experience in starting up their own business as well as coached big names in the industry. 

We got the opportunity to pitch our idea of JomSports, a platform that connects sportsmen who wanted to play sports but didn't have enough people or just wanted to play with a stranger.

1) Enhanced check-through process by creating standardized samples for other interns as reference. 
2) Increased efficiency of acquiring client documents for audit procedures by pooling together different requests.
3) Independently conducted various tests of controls and substantive samplings together with detailed analytical review on significant sections such as revenue, expenses, payroll, and other income. 
4) Sped up audit process by assisting in vouching for supporting documents during statutory audits and oversaw client stock takes at 2 steel production factories. 
5) Actively involved in various interim and final audit teams at STAEDTLER, Nippon Express, Eco World, and more.

As a senior consulting associate, William spearheads research pillar on disruptive tech and leads a team in curating industry grade research on AI to help executives and CEOs address their growth priorities and navigate the art of the possible.

Concurrently, William manages and drives adoption of proprietary AI products across existing and new customers in the SEA region. 

With management consulting experience working with clients from the technology, media and telecommunications space, he developed practical project management skills, strategic and independent thinking, being able to navigate difficult conversations and managing stakeholder relationships across senior levels.

His goal is to not only become a better leader and communicator, but to be more kind and empathetic.
