In my previous life, I used to create magic tricks and perform for a living 🪄

2020 came around and everything fell apart for me 📉

Just like that, in 2020, I started my career in tech sales 💻

3 years later, I got sick of corporate politics and vanity metrics, so I decided to start my agency 💪

In the last 8 months I've traveled the world ( South Korea was my favorite destination), grew my 1 man show to a team of 3, and helped over 10 clients capture the attention of their prospects so they can book more meetings 👁️‍🗨️

Steal my Breakcold workflow that helped me close $14K in 2 weeks 

Step 1: Clearly Identify your ICP ( that means understand all the problems they go through) 

Step 2: Pick one problem and solve it. 

Step 3: Choose a way to show that off. For me, I've been loving Gamma so I put together a guide on why it's important to set up DNS records, buying domains for cold outreach, and setting up inboxes. 

Step 4: Record your screen scrolling through the guide and share it on Linkedin. 

Step 5: Generate demand and create a networking effect by asking viewers to comment on your post in exchange to get their hands on the guide. 

Step 6: Send the guide to everyone 

Step 7: Look at the profiles of the commentators and see which ones fit your ICP. If they do, ask for a meeting. Use humour when you pitch, don't be cringe. 

Step 8: Add the leads in Breakcold with a reminder to follow-up in 2 days if they don't reply. 

Step 9: Follow-up 3 times. each time add some sort of value ( I will make a post about this another time) 

Step 10: Close clients and start getting them results 

Step 11: Repeat again in 2 weeks.

I made a huge mistake running this agency and I only started to fix it a couple of months ago... 

I got insanely lucky in the beginning and was able to close a couple of $6K deal deals, making me think that pricing my service anything lower would just be...dumb. 

Boy was I wrong. 

I was so distracted by the fact that I was able to close multiple $6K deals, that I didn't zoom-out and see the DAMAGE that I was doing to my business and my clients...

At that stage of my business, I barely had a network, and because I was so expensive that meant most sales calls would scare people away, especially because I didn't have the social proof to back my pricing. 

In addition, that number comes with a huge amount of pressure.

Pressure that I wasn't ready to take on. 

I didn't have a team. 

I didn't have a process. 

Nothing. 

I really belive that I could be 2 or 3x where I'm at right now if I had just dropped my ego and was more aware of pricing structures.

Now that we lowered our pricing: 

1- I sleep better at night. I really feel like our pricing is fair. 
2- The business is making more money which means 
3- I get to hire more people and build the culture I've always wished I had 
4- Get more positive testimonials 
5- More referrals 
6- Learning faster 

Pumped to see how strong we can close Q2!

Here's my plan to grow 200% this month:

◉ Week 1 was about warming up

↳ with my co-founder, we just worked but didn't planned anything, I got crazy sick (was under strong corticoid for the 1st time ever to recover) 

↳ it took us 5 days to get into the rhythm

↳ we go to the gym every single day from 6PM to 7.30PM to stay in shape

↳ on Sunday 7th, we spent 5 hours straight planning JUST week 2


◉ Week 2 is about optimizations

↳ we were sleeping on months of feedback and now are taking actions on it

↳ we're pushing many UI/UX improvements & micro-features to make Breakcold better

↳ goal is to improve activation of new users, reduce churn which IMO is more important then acquiring new customers in our business, to truly grow faster.

↳ we're also improving the landing page, a new help doc, conversions funnels, SEO, etc.

↳ every waking hour is dedicated to work except the gym

Week 3 is not planned yet


◉ Week 3 is about creating value content (+ big feature release)

↳ By week 3, I should FINALLY have time to create a proper Sales CRM masterclass for our customers/sign ups first and make modules with sales & ops experts like Xavier, Adam & many more

↳ No BS, real value.

↳ I'll also have time to go after distributors and everyone who wanted to do something with us

Week 4 is not planned yet.


◉ Week 4 is about sales & marketing

↳ By week 4, my sole purpose should be to spend my days driving conversations with sign ups, customers, partnerships, to accelerate everything.

↳ I need to be everywhere, active in communities, sharing value FIRST, helping each customer crushing their goal - their success need to be my obsession.

↳ Vaibhav shared an excellent post about how active he is in Slack groups and more, I do 0 of that, I need to step up my game!

↳ On my co-founder's end, it'll be time to start on the LAST big part of Breakcold to become the de-facto sales CRM for sales teams.


◉ We might not reach 200%

Because for every action we take, we see the results 14 days later as this is the duration of our free trial. But at least we're putting the foundations to do that number each month after that (hopefully).

If you want to get 41 leads in 1 week, then follow this Cold Email framework ( keep reading for a full breakdown) 

First things first 

None of this is possible without a very good understanding of your ICP. 

We built our onboarding around that. ( S/O to Alex for taking lead on this ) 

We ask a lot of questions that help us figure out what we should write for the ICP so they respond. 

Okay but for the sake of this post I will assume that you understand your ICP

Let's breakdown the framework: 

1- The Observation: This is SO easy to mess up. 

Don't say something like " Hey Michael, congrats on raising $4M !" 

You want the observation to feel like you did research on the prospect. Wether that's manually or via tools like Clay, try to pick something that would normally require layers of research. 

It's super easy to see how much money someone raised recently. 

It's a little more complex to say that you KNOW the person has posted every single day for the last two weeks and that it's their first time running a business ( peep the example I have in the picture) 

Make this line short and straight to the point. 

2- Poke the bear: if you don't know about this, then go straight to Josh braun to learn more about it. 

TLDR; ask a question about a common pain point they are mostly likely going through. 

This further helps your argument that you did research on the prospect and that you are reaching out for a REASON. 

3- Elevator pitch: Okay now at this point of the email you've earned the right to talk about yourself a little bit. 

Say what you do, but god damn it say it fast. Don't write a whole journal in this section, you have time to give more context later on if they reply to you or in your follow-up. 

For now, just communicate what you do so the reader understands that you are actually able to help with the problem you mentioned right above. 

4- Soft call to action/ social proof or lead magnet: 

Double down here that you're good at what you do by mentioning a case stuy that the reader is most likely able to relate to. 

If someone reached out to me to train me for basketball and they end their pitch by saying they helped Lebron James improve his jumpshot you best believe I'm going to want to at LEAST talk to them no? 

"But Xavier, I don't have a big name to mention in my social proof" 

No worries, that's why we have lead magnets. 

Build something that you can give away for free to your prospect, or as Eric likes to say "Solve a problem for free that others are charging for" 

PRO TIP: 

When you're done writing your email, read it out loud. 

If you cringe at yourself, then try writing again. 

If you sound "normal" and not salesy, then you hit jackpot.

I swear whenever youtube recommends me something like this I always bite, the lack of effort put in the optics makes me think they all they care about is the value they share in the actual video which is really all I care about as well.

I haven't even watched this guy's video but I bet it's going to be good lol

One of our client's got this reply from one of the cold emails we wrote for them. 

This used to surprise me, but how can you not get replies like these when you're equiped with the best tech, best team, and great copywriting?

Unpopular opinion: Multi channel follow-ups/outreach is spammy

Hear me out: 

if I send you a cold email and you reply to me, then it's safe to assume that you are responsive on that platform. 

Therefore, I will not message you right away on a different platform, because then it does kind of feel like spam. 

I'd just want to keep the conversation on the medium you're comfortable with ( what I'm assuming at least )

Wait, let me use this analogy 

Imagine if I asked a girl out and she gave me her number. 

That's it, just her number. 

An hour later, I text her, but don't hear back for a day. 

What do I do next? 

I find her on facebook and instagram and send her DM's there... 

see? doesn't feel right. 

Feels cringy actually

Obviously personal relationships and business relationships aren't EXACTLY the same, but there are similarities to be drawn from both sides. 

That's why my rule right now is that IF a prospect shows interest in our service, I will reply, then follow-up twice via email, and will only reach out on Linkedin or Twitter if I haven't heard back from that point onwards. 

I've been doing that and it's been serving me well. 

Do you agree or disagree? 

I didn't have a website because someone stole it from me, but somehow that was the best thing to happen for my business ???? 

Long story short, someone took down my website for reasons I will get to another day. 

I was anxious because I thought I would lose out on a lot of business opportunity without one. 

To my surprise, no one really gave a sh*t. 

That's how powerful your personal brand and Linkedin is. 

My Linkedin was my landing page for 2 months. 

and in those 2 months: 

1- I Grew our team 

2- Booked the most amount of meetings in a month since the start of my agency. 

3- Closed more deals than I could handle. 

I think as a service based business, you can get away without having a website or just have a sh*tty one for a while before investing money into it 

Anws, our new website is out now and I doubt I will change much about it for the next 12 months. 

The only thing I will change/edit are the VSL, Copy, and Client video testimonials. 

The rest, I'm leaving it as is. 

First time I posted a job ad on Linkedin and I have some observations I want to share: 

1- I noticed that majority of people apply for the role and don't send a connection request to me. For anyone reading this that is looking for a job, send a connection request, that's one of the easiest way to stand out. 

PS: WHEN I accept, go ahead and pitch slap me. Don't just sent me your resume, that's horrible, be creative and find a unique angle. 

2- You need to finish an assignment before being considered for the job. Most people over promise and under deliver. 

"I'll get it for you tomorrow!" 

2 days go by and still nothing. 

The faster people have submitted the assignment, the more impressed I was and wanted to give them a chance. 

Sense of urgency is extremely valuable. 

3- I haven't looked at a single resume, I just skim applicant's Linkedin. 

Most people have not taken the time to fix their Linkedin, so that makes the others who DID take their time to make their Linkedin look as if it's a Landing page, stand out a lot more. 

I haven't filled the position yet, but there are some promising people in the pipeline, I'm pumped to grow this team! 

I start my days with Onion juice, honey and Lemon. You do not want to compete with me

Them: "Hey Just wanted to follow-up on my previous message!" 🙈

Me: "You either reply to me or you draw 25 cards" 💀

If you're offended by this, you're the problem. 

We really are just getting started, crazy to think about that.
