As an immigrants child who went to 27 different schools, foster homes and shelters until graduating high school public education was the respite needed for growth. The adversity was the training ground in becoming tenacious, resilient and resourceful in other contrasting issues. Yamile worked in public education for 20 years, consistently closing achievement and discipline gaps, increasing parental involvement, student participation and attendance. She worked in recruiting, training and marketing for 15 years with different businesses, contracts including her for and nonprofit business.
