XD Design is a fast-growing scale-up that was founded in 2016 under the wing of its mother company Xindao. We focus on designing, producing, and selling “Smart everyday travel wear for a better journey”. Our high-tech backpacks are sold worldwide via our own web shop and agent and retailer network. You likely have seen these amazing products on the back of young professionals in transit and people exploring the globe. Our products contain the latest anti-theft and smart features. XD Designs products are designed and developed in-house, are made from sustainable materials, save water, and are patented. The head office of XD Design is located in Rijswijk, the Netherlands with a design office in Shanghai and a worldwide presence via our strong retailer network.

Xindao 

Xindao is a well established supplier of promotional & retail gifts since 1986. We serve over 4000 promotional distributors throughout Europe. Xindao has also developed its own retail brand XD-design that is currently sold in over 65 countries worldwide, the most well-known product is the Bobby Anti-Theft Backpack line. With a strong presence in China we are able to remain in the forefront of the industry developments. Working with Xindao is working with a partner that knows all the ins and outs of the business, both on the Chinese as the European side. The name has many meanings in Chinese; the meaning of ‘New Direction’ expresses best our philosophy: build our business based on new ideas and through long term relations with our customers and suppliers. Xindao is a Dutch company, and its headquarters is based in Rijswijk (The Netherlands). Furthermore Xindao has own offices in Scandinavia, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Shanghai and the USA.

Engineering and consulting company in the maritime industry. My responsibilities consisted of:
- managing 40+ key accounts 
- Business development for the APAC region 
- being direct link between technical team and the client
- commercial operation of the office in Shanghai

MK Illumination Global 

Founded in 1996, MK Illumination has earned a worldwide reputation for being exceptional creators and suppliers of conceptual festive lighting for all occasions. The company is a competent, innovative and reliable partner with a wealth of in-depth knowledge in this specialized area of business. In keeping with its philosophy of being a regional company with a global reach, MK Illumination maintains 36 independently run subsidiaries, allowing each business to benefit from local knowledge, customs and networking. The company provides a comprehensive service in three main areas: Leisure, Public Spaces and Retail Real Estate.

My work scope consisted of managing all the incoming projects, for the Shanghai office of MK Illumination:
- pitching projects to clients 
- supporting in the design phase 
- executing the project 
- after-sales to the clients 

Although being a small team we managed to work with some big & well-known brands in the Chinese retail real estate industry. With my help our team managed to develop some innovative and eye-catching creations in Shanghai, Beijing and other cities in China.

Project and Sales Manager 

During this graduation internship I got the opportunity to work in a very international team under the direct supervision of a GCM within the CSI team of DHL's energy sector. The GCM was responsible for several customers on the European and African continent. My role in this operation was to collect more in-depth information about existing and new clients in the fastest growing economies of Africa.

Market Research Intern (CSI) Energy Sector

MK Illumination Global

The first six weeks of my internship were at the global head offices of MK Illumination in Innsbruck Austria. MK Illumination is the leading company in professional festivity lighting (e.a. christmas ligthing) and runs subsidiaries in 28 different countries. Major part of the production takes place in China and therefor one of their offices is also located in Shenzhen China. My task during these 7 months was to do research on market-expansion. Besides six weeks in Innsbruck, I have worked under the supervision of the branch office manager in Shenzhen PRC for 5 months as well.
