Hi, I am building a social enterprise called www.employed.world to solve a problem that is close to my heart, i.e. the problem/difficulty of finding the first job. I started working when I was 13 years old. After a few odd jobs, I started my design career at the age of 14-15. Getting the first job was not easy then, nor is it today and sadly my research/ master thesis on the topic of unemployment told me that this problem is only getting worse. High-speed Technology advancement and profit-driven companies may be the top cause but I am yet to learn the system better. So last 2-3 years I tried to understand the problem and the system by volunteering in organizations that are trying to help job seekers. Some were individuals and startups who ran out of energy or money and on the other side there were non-profits which is personally not a long-term efficient solution for me to help job seekers. There are of course businesses like boot camps that are bridging the gap between what University teaches us and what companies need. But sadly the problem is even out of their hand and now thanks to them selling the dream of becoming a professional in 3-6 months there are way too many job seekers in the market than entry-level jobs. So the moment of truth came this year when I was unemployed for a period, this time allowed me enough time to introspect and choose the direction I wish to take for my future. and I decided to start talking about this to people around me in the UX industry. I also needed to find a sustainable business to run as a profit-making company so I could reinvest the profits to grow and not rely on donations/funding. I feel lucky that I found that. Not just a business model but many supporters who inspire me to take the lead of faith and go full-time on this journey of building a social enterprise that aims to help UX job seeker get their first job faster by creating more entry-level positions in the industry/Germany. Why UX? Because of my experience, I can leverage my network of emphatic individuals to help job seekers together.
