Most audiences don’t respond when:

- Your strategy sucks

If just one of these off, then you’re doomed.

I wish just filling out a template and sending it off made people book calls.

But there’s more to it.

Founders who send 1 weak sequence.
Then say to themselves:

“Everyone ignores cold emails anyway.”

11 things I wish I knew when I started cold email:

(these learnings helped me scale 2 businesses to 6 & 7 figs)

1/ Your offer is everything

Crap offer, crap results. Get to know your prospect. Their pain points, wants & desires. Present your offer in their terms.

2/ Listen to the market, not your ego

Negative replies? No replies? Don’t take it personally. Negative feedback is still feedback. Focus on what the market responds to.

3/ Keep subject lines human

Skip salesy subject lines like “We’ll get you leads.” Instead, keep it casual (eg. “hey, got a sec?” / “super quick”).

4/ Always verify emails

Unverified emails lead to high bounce rates & burned domains. Always verify (try Mailveri). Keep your sender rep on point.

5/ Make ONE ask per email

Don’t pepper prospects with questions. Multiple CTAs require more thinking from recipients. Stick to one clear CTA.

6/ Personalisation is overrated

Personalisation alone won’t win you replies. Use it, but don’t over-rely on it. Relevance & usefulness matter more.

7/ Use proof

Remember: cold prospects don’t know you. Use case studies & client results to foster trust quickly.

8/ Don’t send from your main domain

Don’t prescribe too soon.

Try a low-pressure CTA like:

• “Mind if I send a quick breakdown of how we solved this?”
• “Interested in hearing what we did for X?”
• “Open to a few ideas that might help?”

A simple Yes or No makes it easy to reply.
Add value before you solicit their time.

3/ Prescribe the treatment

Give them time before you follow up.

Don’t just send one email. But don’t be a pest either.

Leave 2 or 3 days then follow up:

• Address a common objection
• Share a one-sentence case study
• And/or offer a different lead magnet

Aim to add value at every touchpoint.

1/ Your lead magnet just offers a partial solution

Let’s say you’re an SEO.

And you offer a “free site speed report.”
But you provide no free fix.

Here’s what that exchange looks like...

You: “Hey, you have a problem. Now pay me to fix it.”
Prospect: “Errr.....No thanks.”

Why? Because you’ve provided no value.
You’ve built no trust.

It’s not enough to just point out problems.

Instead pick one painful problem people pay you to solve.
(ie. one step from your paid solution)

Then solve it – for free.

It’s popular. But the people who download it?

Here’s the problem...

Your real ICP (SaaS founders) don’t care about going “viral.” They care about qualified leads, sales calls & revenue.
