Thus, enhancing the customer buying experience from discovery to purchase.

📍 1997, Surrey, England

I was 6 years old at home in lagos, nigeria when my father told my i was leaving school. 

In the autumn i would be continuing my education in england.
 
As a young boy i had an obsessive love of reading often spending days immersed in books.

I was however awkwardly introverted and shy. I often went days without speaking.

I grew up in a house hold of imposing, loud  personalities in a noisy and fast moving vibrant city.

My father was concerned about my limited personality traits and decided i needed a change of scenery and character building.

➖ Character Building 

My new school was very different to life in lagos. Much more rooted in regiment, tradition and etiquette.

At the beginning i reverted to type and often spent most of the my time on my own in the library reading or practising musical instruments.

Then i started playing rugby for the first time. 

The school had a very good and proud reputation for producing winning rugby teams.

Based on my performances my coach asked me to be vice captain of the rugby team which at the time i found terrifying.

However i wanted to be more like the people i'd grown up with at home. So i agreed. 

➖  Empowered Through Sport 

The team i played in had a very formulaic approach. 

Our style was set plays that we rehearsed and rehearsed and tested over and over.

If one person didn't perform their role our system our set plays would break down.

My job was often to finish the set play which depended on communication with others. 

I was forced to learn how to speak with and work with others.

In my final year we went unbeaten. 

The first time in the school's history.

Today when i look back i realised I learnt so much about the importance of team work, systems and learning difficult things by doing.

British founded luxury ecommerce retailer MATCHES was one of the first to offer a large selection of luxury brands online.

This is the number one reason (excluding delivery and pricing) that their customers purchase on their websites. 

➖ Trailblazers Left Behind

Unfortunately Matches fell into administration recently. 

In my opinion MATCHES likely became too dependant on this main strength or as part of it's business strategy.

It has other strengths that are popular with customers which i will be sharing over the next few days and in much more depth in my newsletter LUXE.

The second most popular reason (excluding delivery and pricing) luxury customers purchase on MATCHES.com is because it's easy to find products on their websites. 

Building your website in a way that is easy to navigate not just enhances the customer experience but also is key to successful search engine optimisation which improves visibility of your website in search engines. 

This in turn will bring more customers to your websites. 

Although a functional strength ; if executed well can be a major strength that will attract luxury customers.

MATCHES.com has a good reputation for accurate sizing information and product descriptions. 

The impact of not getting this right for brands is poor customer experience when the customer receives the product, brand damage and returns which increases the cost of sale.
