Presently since June 2022, I am working here in Khara Hydro Power Project (03x24MW), Saharanpur (UP) located at downstream of the power channel, which has been extracted from the Yamuna river from Dakpathar Barrage (UK).

Here, as a Junior Engineer (Test), I am responsible for the following duties assigned to me and beyond:

✅ 220kV Switchyard (06 Bays).
✅ 220VDC Battery System, etc.
✅ Office Documentation & Stock.
✅ Protection System (GRP, UCB, etc.).

Here, I am also responsible for managing the "Monthly Energy Bill". Working in hydro power project is all together a different experience.

Previously I worked in Parichha Thermal Power Project (1140 MW) located on Jhansi-Kanpur national highway since June 2011 to June 2022. 

I had a good exposure working here in Electrical Maintenance Division (2X210 MW) dealing in the following:

✅ 6.6kV Switchgear.
✅ 250 MVA Turbo Generator.
✅ 220kV Switchyard (07 Bays).
✅ 220VDC Battery System, etc.
✅ Office Documentation & Stock.
✅ Protection System (UCP, SECP, etc.).
✅ HT/LT Transformer (1MVA to 250MVA).

Torrent Power to set up 1600 MW (2x800 MW) ultra super critical thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh.

Directly or indirectly this project will provide the jobs 8000 to 10000 people during the construction phase and 1500 direct and indirect jobs during the operation.

This ultra super critical power project will provide electricity to MP for the next 25 years, as Torrent Power and MPPMCL signed a Letter of Award (LoA) at a tariff ₹5.829/KWh.

The inception period of this 2x800 MW thermal power project will be 72 months.

The total investment for this project will be ₹10500cr. Letter of Award (LoA) has been issued to Adani Power by MP Power Management Company.

The 800 MW ultra super critical thermal power project will be developed on “Design, Building, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO)” model.

This project will provide employment to almost 6000-7000 people directly or indirectly.

A 660 MW unit of 2x660 MW, Buxar Thermal Power Project (BTPP) in Bihar has commenced the power generation from 22/08/2025.

The honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project's first unit virtually from Gaya. 

The project is developed by SJVN.

This project has generated the employment of 10,000 people directly and indirectly.

85% of the total generated energy will be consumed by Bihar itself and remaining 15% will be transmitted to the central pool.

Today I finished reading “Mango Millionaire”. I read this book late at night, early in the morning or sometimes in the afternoon.

I must say that once you start reading this book you will not stop until you finish.

The authors of this book, who are renowned names Radhika Gupta & Niranjan Avasthi in the finance world, did their best to guide you directly using layman's language. 

Their efforts in keeping the language of mango people intact is truly appreciable.


✅ Why did I picked this book:

Simple, because I truly love Dal-Bhaat.

I consume it on an alternate day or sometimes daily and I know like me you also love daal-bhaat. So, choosing this book satisfies my soul and justifies choosing “Dal Bhaat Over Avocado Toast”.

Although I am an electrical engineer by profession, the world of finance, especially personal finance, always fascinates me. 

In my spare time I read books and blogs about personal finance. I also observe the change in my behavior and relationship with money.

I grew up in a lower middle class family belonging to a rural background, where discussion about money management is a rare phenomenon. 

However, today as the world goes digital, people started talking about money, but making people financially literate is required at mission level. In this direction, reputed institutions like SEBI, RBI, NISM and a handful of finfluencers are doing good work.


✅ Lessons I learned: here is the list of top important lessons I learned reading this book and found worth sharing with you.


1. What is true for love is also true for money.

2. Our money habits are shaped by what we see around us while growing up.

Big Boost for India’s Power Sector

Larsen & Toubro has secured a massive ₹15,000 crore order from Adani Power to set up a 6,400 MW (8x800 MW) thermal power project.

The scope of work design, engineering, manufacturing, supply and commissioning of  boilers, turbines, generators, control & instrumentation systems, and balance-of-plant packages.

India’s power sector is on the move, balancing renewable expansion with reliable thermal capacity.

Reliance Infrastructure has received a Letter of Award(LoA) from NHPC Limited for a 390 MW solar power project and 780 MWhr BESS.

Now, Reliance Group's clean energy pipeline stands at more than 3 GWp of Solar DC capacity and over 3.5 GWhr of BESS capacity.

India requires ₹5 trillion of investment in the power sector over the next five years, said Sh. Praveen Sinha (CEO & MD, TATA Power)

He told that solar power added in:

• 2015: 5 GW
• 2025: 115 GW
• 2030: 290 GW

Last year we aided 30 GW of renewable energy, but at the same time China added 400 GW in a year, where 280 GW only from solar.

This journey was not easy but it reflected the spirit of engineers, workers, and policymakers who kept the power flowing.

When India got independence in 1947, power was a luxury for a few top cities.

Today, it is the backbone of every home, industry, and dream.

I still remember those nights of  2002-2005, when I was a student of class 9th-10th. 

The electricity in my village used to be scheduled early in the morning around 03:00 AM. I often woke up to study and solve mathematics problems till morning under a filament lamp, no inverter, no power back up.

Today electricity is available 24x7 for every one, whenever you want in various forms.

We, as a nation, now lead in renewable energy, build ultra-mega power projects keeping the 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030 in mind and aim for net zero by 2070.

This isn’t just about numbers, but It’s about YOU, the young engineer, the power plant technician, the grid operator, who keeps India shining.

This Independence Day, let’s celebrate the unsung heroes of the power sector.

You can wish your linemen, substation operator, engineers, etc. working round the clock 24x7 with a smile on their face.

Wishing you all “Happy 79th Independence Day” makes it unique.

NTPC Green Energy Limited added 25 MW of solar power capacity in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI ) has issued a request for the proposal for development of 600MW/1200MWh standalone BESS in Kolimigudla in Nandyal district, Andhra Pradesh.

The last date of the submission of bids will be 22/09/20025.

The scope of work includes the design, engineering, procurement, supply, testing, civil works, installation, commissioning, and performance demonstration of the balance of systems components with comprehensive operation & maintenance (O&M) for five years.

TATA Power and Druk Green Power Corporation Limited are collaborating on the ₹6,900 crore Khorlochhu Hydropower Project in Bhutan. 

This 600 MW initiative, set to be built on the Kholongchhu River, aims to meet Bhutan's growing electricity needs and support India’s renewable energy goals.

The careful handling of electrical equipment is a crucial part of the successful completion of any job.

There is a thumb rule in electrical engineering that if you don't know the operation & maintenance of a particular equipment, it is better to say a clear NO or ask for directions.

In this module, designed by the NTPC Limited in collaboration with Karmayogi Bharat, important tips have been provided for the working personnel of the power sector.

I am sharing the important points, which you must know: 

✅ Written permission for shutdown or work permit by the Engineer-In-Charge or the Supervisor is mandatory.

✅ Double-check the isolation of the electrical module or equipment from the live bus.

✅ Turn off the control supply to avoid any malfunctioning.

✅ Ground that particular equipment properly.

✅ Ensure wearing the valid PPE kit.

✅ Execute the job successfully in professional supervision.

Remember, the delayed job completion is far better than any fatalities due to the mishandling of electrical equipment.
