and "Are you doing your best, Finance Business Partners" podcast thanks Andi Lonnen FCCA BSc

This has dovetailed the following learning from workshop quite nicely for me

In the Workshop I learnt about the 70/20/10 learning model where 
- 70% is learning on the job 
- 20% is from peers, community , mentors or coaches 
- 10% is from formal training 

“We used to go to work to do a job, now learning is the job” - Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft.

So we learn more from the things we do by applying everyday easy experiments where it is okay to fail and try new things out.

An experiment I will give a try more is to add a To Think list alongside a To Do List whereby writing down questions generates clarity thinking and enables a focused approach to the To Do list to develop habit stacking.

Why such learning approach matters applying to a Finance Business Partner?

- We become focused more on value driving activities to the business
- We develop curiousity as a skill  
- We do our best under the circumstances given and continue to move forward progressively as we learn
- We move away from being a bean counter to being an enabler to the business
- We are able to build confidence and trust with the business
- We need to be able to connect the dots between numbers and operations to be enable to strategic influence the direction of the business forward by looking ahead

I just completed the second Learn Like A Lobster workshop 🦞    "Learn in Hard Moments" focusing on feedback thanks to Helen Tupper abd Sarah Ellis at Amazingif

Lobsters 🦞  grow in hard moments by breaking free of their old shell .  Exposing themselves to a vulnerable time until the new shell hardens and allow them to grow in size. 🦞 🦞 

We learn and grow most in hard moments like a lobster too by coming out of our comfort zone and being vulnerable to do so.

One way to do we do this is through feedback.

We tend to see feedback as a threat to who we are and how we see ourselves currently inducing anxiety , fear and panic.
