As the founder of Hampden Farms Inclusive Innovations, I'm on a mission to cultivate inclusion and growth for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their caregivers. My journey from Air Force veteran to sustainable farmer and social entrepreneur has shaped my unique approach to empowering the neurodivergent community. At Hampden Farms, we blend innovative programs, strategic social media management, and sustainable living initiatives. Our core services include: •Social Media Support for IDD-focused organizations •Denver Brick Club: LEGO®-based therapy using Brick-by-Brick® methodology •Life Skills Program for neurodivergent youth aged 13-17 •LEGO®-based Mindful Events for professionals •Sustainable Gardening Program We leverage play, nature, and digital connectivity to create a holistic support ecosystem for the IDD community. Background: Born in San Fernando Valley (CA), I served in the Air Force as a public affairs and medical photographer. After medical retirement in 2004, I moved to Denver in 2016 to pursue a holistic lifestyle. My transition was supported by veteran programs including EBV at UCLA, Veterans to Farmers with Denver Botanic Gardens (DBG), and Veterans' Path mindfulness training. In 2017, I founded Hampden Farms, evolving from a suburban farming project into a comprehensive support system for the IDD community. Continued Learning and Involvement: •REI X FAAS Project participant •LinkedIn Creator Accelerator Program participant •300-hour Herbalism Certification from DBG •Self-Care Maker and Farmer for Chatfield •Instructor for DBG's Veterans-to-Farmers program •Parent advisory Board member of TACT since 2020 Current Pursuits: I'm engaged in the first cohort of Soil, Shadow and Spirit, combining sustainable farming with entrepreneurship and play. My goal is to expand Hampden Farms' impact, creating more inclusive spaces for the neurodivergent community. We've partnered with Project Baseplate (Carnegie Mellon University and Play Included®) to bring the Brick-by-Brick® program to Denver. As a Certified Advanced Facilitator, I implement this LEGO®-based therapy program to support peer development through structured play. This partnership, along with our relationships with Show&Tell, TACT, and the Colorado Developmental Disabilities Council, strengthens our ability to offer comprehensive experiences for neurodivergent teens and young adults with I/DD in Denver. When not changing the world, I enjoy LEGO builds with my three teen inventors and exploring ideas with my partner.
