Lead Software Engineer

Together with my co-founder, I have been working on early stage products in the online marketplace and niche search engine space. My focus has been on large, open domains such as designer furniture (trill.ch), holiday camps (parenta.ch), and gift ideas (trill.hu). 

Additionally, we provide analytics and big data consulting services to clients, including mining structured data from log sessions for a large airline and process mining. Our proprietary framework has been demonstrated on a small e-commerce site (https://innovite.ch/blog/carpet-shop), and we have expertise in using session analytics and scaleable A/B experiment systems to transform product development.

Google

As the lead quality engineer on the Broad Match team at Google, I played a key role in launching a series of improvements to the retrieval system that significantly increased search ad revenue while improving ad quality.

Later on, as a founding member of the team that built the infrastructure and quality layers for upper funnel exploration products in Google Search, including Book & Movie recommendations, Recipe search, and Podcasts, I served as the technical coordinator between three product teams, two platform teams, and a research team. Additionally, I've prototypedmachine learning models to classify soft attributes such as target audience, style, theme, and mood on entities such as books and recipes, using both structured and unstructured data sources.

Staff Software Engineer

As the technical lead of a multi-year project, I oversaw the re-architecture of the internal keyword search engine that matches incoming searches with advertisements in real time. The project had extremely strict requirements for quality, latency, and reliability. I replaced a decade-old keyword generation system with a modern search-based approach, which opened up innovation and led to a significant increase in revenue while improving ad quality.

Senior Software Engineer

As the technical lead of the Zürich team, I worked on Google's core web search ranking algorithms to improve the freshness of the results. Software Engineer

3D Systems Corporation

I have a strong background in researching, developing, and implementing automatic and semi-automatic algorithms for industrial reverse engineering of 3D CAD models from scanned data. As the responsible party for the automatic segmentation module of Geomagic Studio 10, I also implemented interactive curve editing tools in the software. (Geomagic was later acquired by 3D Systems.) 

My work on automatic segmentation methods has been patented, published in international scientific journals, and recognized with a PhD degree.

As a seasoned search engineer and entrepreneur, I have a proven track record of successfully leading web-scale projects that drive improvements in core business objectives, including quality, revenue, and latency. With a strong understanding and hands-on experience with two search stacks at Google (web search and ads retrieval), I have developed a deep expertise in search engineering and a unique perspective on the field. In recent years, I have turned my focus to developing new products that leverage innovative technologies and business analytics to create value and drive growth.
