Mar. 22nd ’23 @ 21:00 | Not every activity needs to have an outcome. Here are 5 activities that are better when you focus on being present instead of getting caught up on results: Yoga or meditation: Practicing yoga or meditation without a focus on the outcome allows you to be present in the moment and focus on your breath and body, rather than stressing about achieving a certain pose or level of mindfulness. Gardening: Gardening without a focus on outcome allows you to enjoy the process of planting, nurturing, and watching plants grow, while also getting some fresh air and exercise. Painting or drawing: Creating art without focusing on the outcome allows you to express yourself freely and experiment with different techniques, colors, and materials, without worrying about the final product. Cooking: Cooking without a focus on outcome allows you to focus on the process of creating a dish, experimenting with different flavors and techniques, and enjoying the act of creating something delicious, rather than stressing about the final result. Reading: Reading without a focus on the outcome allows you to lose yourself in the story, enjoy the process of reading and savor the words and ideas, rather than worrying about getting to the end of the book or understanding every detail. What other activities do you enjoy when you're not focused on the outcome? #mindfulness #enjoytheprocess | 59 | 4 | 6.78% | 2 | 2
Mar. 21st ’23 @ 21:15 | 🏠 Immigrant households: Old vs New Generation Mindset about Buying Property 🏠 Just listened to an insightful discussion on the Level: Asian Podcast about the mindset shift between generations in Asian households when it comes to property investment. As someone who has personally experienced the challenge of navigating differing mindsets with my parents around what to do with my money, this topic can bring up a lot of emotion, frustration, guilt, and shame. Which is exactly why it needs to be spoken about more often. Especially if we are to support our community in building wealth. Here's a quick bullet-point summary for those interested: 🔹 Old Generation Mentality: - Priority on buying property as a secure investment - Tangible assets were preferred due to scarcity of money - Immigrant families focused on property due to limited investment options 🔹 New Generation Mindset: - Hesitant to jump into property investment and get locked up in mortgage repayments for decades - Concerns about high property prices (median in Sydney is ~$1.2M) and interest rates - Exploring alternative investments like tech businesses, shares, ETFs, and crypto - Focus on experiences, travel, and personal growth over property acquisition 🔹 Factors Influencing Shift: - Increased investment options and easier access to business opportunities - Change in lifestyle priorities and values - Less pressure from older generations to buy property - Different financial situations and contexts While there's no one-size-fits-all approach to investments, it's clear that the new generation is thinking beyond traditional norms when it comes to securing their financial future. Link to the podcast episode in the comments. What's your take on the changing mindset towards property investment in immigrant households? Mar. 20th ’23 @ 21:00 | ChatGPT/GPT-4 Exposed: Are You Falling for Its Lies in Your B2B Content Creation? Here are some quotes from OpenAI's documentation: 1/ Its data isn't current "GPT-4 generally lacks knowledge of events that have occurred after the vast majority of its data cuts off (September 2021), and does not learn from its experience." 2/ It's VERY good at lying (and making you feel like it's not) "GPT-4 can also be confidently wrong in its predictions, not taking care to double-check work when it’s likely to make a mistake. " So, how can you leverage ChatGPT/GPT-4 effectively for your B2B needs while avoiding these pitfalls? Here are three actionable steps: 🔹 Step 1: Fact-Check Information Always cross-reference any data, statistics, or claims made by the AI model with reputable sources to ensure accuracy. Remember, it's better to be safe than sorry when sharing information with your audience. 🔹 Step 2: Supplement with Current Data To keep your content relevant and up-to-date, supplement AI-generated ideas with recent industry news, trends, and events. This will help your content stay fresh and resonate better with your target audience. 🔹 Step 3: Use AI for Ideation & Structuring Leverage ChatGPT/GPT-4 for brainstorming content ideas and structuring your posts, then use your expertise to fill in the gaps with accurate and valuable insights. This approach maximizes the AI's creative potential while minimizing its limitations. By following these steps, you can make the most of ChatGPT/GPT-4's capabilities while ensuring your content is accurate, relevant, and valuable for your B2B audience. Mar. 19th ’23 @ 21:00 | The problem with fake it till you make it: It's a common phrase thrown around in the business world, but it's actually not very helpful advice. Instead of trying to fake confidence or expertise, focus on being authentic and transparent about what you know and what you don't know. Admitting your weaknesses can actually build trust with others and create opportunities for growth and learning. So let go of the pressure to appear perfect and embrace vulnerability as a strength. #authenticity #vulnerability #leadership | 269 | 9 | 3.35% | 5 | 4
Mar. 18th ’23 @ 21:00 | The Power of Gratitude in Business: Take a moment to think about everything you have accomplished so far in your career. By expressing gratitude towards clients, colleagues, and even challenges faced, we can create a positive and productive work environment. Mar. 17th ’23 @ 21:00 | Why Your Personal Brand Matters, Even if You're Not a CEO or Entrepreneur Your personal brand isn't just for CEOs or entrepreneurs - it's important for everyone. Why? Because your personal brand is how you present yourself to the world. It's what people think of when they hear your name, and it can make a big difference in your career and personal life. Think about it - when you apply for a job, your potential employer is likely going to look you up online. What do they find? Are there social media posts that could hurt your chances? Or do they see a well-crafted LinkedIn profile that highlights your skills and accomplishments? Building a strong personal brand doesn't happen overnight, but it's worth the effort. Start by defining your values and areas of expertise, and then consistently promote those things through your online presence and interactions with others. Remember, your personal brand is something that you have control over - so take ownership of it and use it to create opportunities for yourself. #personalbranding #careeradvice #professionaldevelopment | 239 | 16 | 6.69% | 8 | 8
Mar. 16th ’23 @ 21:00 | I felt myself tumbling forward, and then my face slammed on the cold, hard ground. I blacked out for a moment. In 2001 I was learning how to snowboard. I'd taken my first beginner lesson only a couple of weekends prior at Perisher in Australia. So there I was, moving way too fast down an icy run at Coronet Peak mountain in NZ. (It was a terrible run for a newbie) ... and then my snowboard clipped the ice... After slamming my face on the cold, hard ice, I blacked out for a moment. I snapped back to consciousness to see blood on the ice and realised it was dripping from my nose. Absolutely shocked, I slowly made my way to the bottom of the run and sat inside the warm lodge for the next hour. Totally spaced out. Wondering, "what just happened?" Then a thought occurred to me: "I didn't die. I'm not injured. I'm OK. I can do this!" Refusing to let fear stop me, I got back onto the chairlift and up the mountain. And I took on that run again. This time, with the fear of falling gone, I felt myself moving better. I was flowing with the mountain! Able to bend and move along with all the turns and bumps beneath me. And I made it down safely. I felt a sense of achievement. I had leveled up from beginner to intermediate. I felt liberated. At that moment, I know what it felt like to be invincible. ... When was the last time that you felt invincible? Let me know in the comments. I'd love to hear the story. #overcomingfear #truestory #personalgrowth | 86 | 1 | 1.16% | 1 | 0

Mar. 11th ’23 @ 22:08 | Will AI & Automation really deliver on the promise to free workers up to live more meaningful lives? Just read an insightful article from Elizabeth M. R. where she writes: “History has shown us that gains in efficiency or productivity as a result of new technologies rarely liberate those already overburdened in society. Instead, new tech often creates new expectations and norms, heightening standards and the amount of work required to attain them. Known as Parkinson’s law, it’s the idea that work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.” Elizabeth goes on to say, “Simply put, the AI productivity narrative is a lie. It holds that by automating tasks, AI will make them more efficient and make us, in turn, more productive. This will free us for more meaningful tasks, or for leisurely pursuits such as yoga, painting or volunteerism, promoting human flourishing and well-being. But if history is any guide, this outcome is highly unlikely, save for a privileged elite. More likely, the rich will only get richer.” Read the full article for a fascinating take. Link in comments. Mar. 5th ’23 @ 21:00 | 13 Tips for building an audience and launching your first online course (from 3 Successful Course Creators) Last week I attended a panel event called "Scaling your expertise" hosted by Wes Kao and Claire Chen of Maven. Here are some great tips on audience building and launching your first course: Emily Kramer: - Start with the format you feel most comfortable with. - Consistently post and distribute content to get better at it. - Long-form writing with visuals and diagrams can help you share your expertise. - Remember that creating the content is half the battle; you also need to distribute it effectively. - Make your first course lower cost, and let people know it's your first course to account for potential messiness. Christian Wattig: - Find a community or peer group to keep you motivated. - Use LinkedIn to start sharing your expertise and take advantage of the built-in audience. - Teaching can open new doors for career opportunities, and posting about it on LinkedIn can lead to collaborations. - Take existing ideas from other sources and apply them to your context to create unique content. Amanda Natividad: - Start by thinking of your content as helping people rather than just broadcasting yourself. - Remember that people aren't scrutinizing you as much as you think they are, and use LinkedIn's built-in credibility to get started. - Convert your LinkedIn page to a creator page and drop your newsletter link in the headline for passive subscriber growth. - Use a newsletter tool like Substack as a starting point for newsletter creation due to built-in distribution and the ability to export your list. (Avoid ESPs like Mailchimp that are not optimized for newsletter growth) Which of these tips stands out most for you? #coursecreator #marketing #creatoreconomy | 821 | 24 | 2.92% | 14 | 10

The best part was that My-Linh had seen a few of my recent posts online and sensed that I was going through some life changes, developing an interest in tiny homes, and might want a friend to chat with. She was right. We had a fantastic chat about our shared desire to tap into our creative side more often. Mar. 2nd ’23 @ 21:00 | Beware of Guru Marketing's Tricks: My Personal Experience As someone who has been in business for a while, I've seen my fair share of "guru marketing" tactics that just rub me the wrong way. These practices are unethical and take advantage of individuals looking to improve their life or business. That's why I'm calling BS on them. Here are three practices that I've seen that I strongly dislike: 1. Payment plans with an extra charge of 20% or more as a penalty for not paying in full. This is an imaginary tax that has no justifiable reason. 2. Encouraging business owners to go into debt or borrow money to buy their coaching. This is just wrong and takes advantage of people who are trying to improve their businesses. 3. Posts that suggest you should "invest at the level you want in your business." This is just a way for questionable marketers and salespeople to get more money from you without providing actual value. I've been burned by these unethical practices before (I'm talking tens of thousands of dollars), and I'm guilty of using them in my previous businesses too. I can no longer claim ignorance: "I don't know any better." That's why I'm now a huge advocate for authentic marketing. I believe in providing real value, a level of transparency, and helping business owners grow their businesses in a sustainable and ethical way. This has become even more important in the age of AI and fake news. Buyers want to know and feel that they're dealing with genuine sellers - people they can trust not to screw them over and who can deliver on their promises. Have you come across any of these practices before? How does it make you feel when they're being used on you? #NoMoreGuruMarketing #AuthenticMarketing #FairBusinessPractices | 164 | 7 | 4.27% | 5 | 2

Feb. 26th ’23 @ 00:24 | 3 Growth Lessons from Business Coach Marc-Andre Roubaud #1 Take Regular Action that helps you Grow: Marc-Andre started a Facebook group for business owners and committed to showing up and being on camera regularly. This is a great lesson in taking action and being proactive in your own growth. #2 Understand Your Why: When Marc-Andre meets with clients, he always asks them about their why first. This helps him understand them on a deeper level and acts as leverage later on when he needs them to take action. You can use this lesson to get clarity on your own why and use it to drive your decisions and actions (especially when you're feeling challenged or stressed). #3 Focus on Relationships: This was the first time Marc-Andre and I ever spoke, and it was clear his focus was on building relationships with individuals with shared values. By taking the time to understand people, he is able to provide tailored solutions that help them free up time and energy and grow their revenue. Feb. 24th ’23 @ 21:00 | Everyone's journey and pace of growth are different. I recently read a Linkedin post that said something along the lines of "Most people don't grow." While it's true that some individuals may not actively seek out growth and improvement, it's important to recognize that we're not all in the same boat. Not everyone may have the same opportunities or resources to develop their skills or push themselves out of their comfort zone. Additionally, some individuals may have life circumstances or personal challenges that prevent them from actively pursuing growth. Life events such as caring for a sick family member, financial struggles, or dealing with mental health issues can prevent individuals from actively pursuing growth and improvement. Maybe you're a parent and all your extra time and energy, outside of working to pay the bills, is focused on making sure your child grows up healthy and given the opportunities that you didn't have when you were a child. That doesn't mean you don't care about growth. You're just growing at a different pace and in a different area of life (as the best parent that you can be). Let's strive to support and encourage one another in our individual journeys of growth and improvement. By treating each other with kindness and understanding, we can create a positive and supportive environment that fosters personal and professional growth for all. Feb. 23rd ’23 @ 21:00 | From Coworking Marketing Lead to Freelance Marketing Consultant: My Journey to Helping Small Businesses Succeed It all started when I was the marketing manager for Australia's leading coworking space. I was tasked with creating and executing a comprehensive marketing plan that would help drive awareness and engagement with the brand. While I loved being a part of a dynamic and innovative team, I quickly realized the challenges that small businesses face when it comes to marketing. I saw firsthand how startups and small businesses struggled with: 1. Creating a clear and actionable marketing plan, 2. Limited budgets and people power, 3. Difficulty measuring success, 4. Standing out in a crowded market, and 5. Keeping up with constantly changing technology and marketing trends. These challenges inspired me to start my own content agency, where I could help small businesses overcome these obstacles and achieve their marketing goals. However, after running my content agency for some time, I realized that the traditional agency model wasn't the right fit for me. I preferred working with a handful of clients and leaning into my genius zone as a coach and consultant. That's when I made the transition to becoming a freelance marketing strategist and consultant. I'm passionate about helping small businesses succeed and using technology to simplify processes, foster human connections, and drive results. My experience in marketing, combined with my love of coaching and consulting, makes me well-equipped to help small businesses overcome the 5 marketing challenges I outlined above. If you're a small business looking to take your marketing to the next level, I'd love to chat and see how I can help. Shoot me a DM to book a complimentary 15-min call. Feb. 21st ’23 @ 21:00 | Small business owners often find themselves overwhelmed and unsure of where to start with their marketing. This leads to a scattered and inefficient approach. This was the experience David Smith (MBA) was having when he came to me for help. I particularly loved working with David because he's a smart visionary guy doing amazing things in his industry. It's always awesome to hear that a 2-hr strategy session can help a founder feel like they're back in control. With a clear and structured plan in place, they can focus their efforts on specific and targeted activities, leading to more effective and efficient marketing efforts. DM me if this is something you'd like some help with. #MarketingStrategy #SmallBusinessMarketing #90DayPlan #testimonial | 130 | 5 | 3.85% | 2 | 3
