While I was able to assist some clients and gained valuable experience, I quickly realized that the level of expertise required to truly succeed in this field goes beyond a few months of self-taught courses.

Despite my best efforts, I found that managing and increasing a brand's online presence demands years of experience and a deep understanding of digital marketing strategies. This humbling experience was invaluable, teaching me the intricacies of running ads, building websites, and much more.

Though ProofDM was not the success I envisioned, the lessons I learned were crucial. They have been instrumental in the phenomenal growth of my current venture, NewAge Vending, which is now exceeding all expectations.

ProofDM may have been a challenging chapter, but it set the stage for the success that followed.

Starting Zoomies, an innovative online pet store specializing in dog toys, was a significant venture into the world of eCommerce. Despite my passion for pets, I quickly realized that running an online store was more of a task than a joy. It involved navigating the complexities of selling online, dropshipping, and managing overseas supplier partnerships.

My key responsibilities included developing business strategies, executing marketing plans, overseeing sales, managing daily operations, and handling financial management. Under my leadership, Zoomies grew to an annual revenue of $20,000. However, I ultimately decided to close the business to pursue different professional interests.

While Zoomies did not bring me personal fulfillment, it was a major learning experience. It taught me the intricacies of eCommerce, the challenges of dropshipping, and the importance of quality customer service. These lessons have been invaluable in my entrepreneurial journey, particularly in the success of my current venture, NewAge Vending.

Zoomies may not have been the right fit for me, but it set a solid foundation for my future endeavors.

I was going to wait until the wrap was on the van.

But I couldn’t.

This moment means too much.

At first glance, this is just a new work van. But for me, it’s not about the van at all. It’s about the two people standing next to me, my parents.

The truth is, I don’t do this for myself. I never really have. Everything I’m building is for them.

Three or four years ago, I wasn’t someone I was proud of. I had hit a point in my life where I wasn’t honoring the sacrifices they made for me, or the support they never stopped giving, even when I probably didn’t deserve it. I wasn’t an easy kid to raise, and if roles were reversed, I’m not sure I would’ve had the patience they did.

They never gave up on me.

Hitting rock bottom forced me to take a hard look at who I was becoming. I realized that numbing everything and getting messed up wasn’t strength, it wasn’t freedom, and it definitely wasn’t how you show gratitude to the people who love you most.

Finding this industry gave me purpose. But more than that, it gave me a vehicle for redemption. And eventually, something even bigger, a chance to build, to lead, and to prove to myself that I could do hard things the right way.

This van represents growth. It represents responsibility. It represents becoming a company that customers rely on and a company that employees depend on. It represents doing things the right way, even when it’s harder.

As my parents get older, the pressure only increases, not in a negative way, but in a motivating one. I want them to see that I can build something meaningful. That I can carry the weight. That I’m worthy of being their son.

Some people will just see a van, and that’s fine.

I see progress. I see accountability. I see momentum.

And the crazy part? We’re getting busy enough that van number two isn’t far behind.

I’m ready.

No one will care more than I do. No one will outwork me. And I’ll keep giving this everything I have, because for people like me, “good enough” isn’t a finish line.

Sometimes the coolest part about social media isn’t posting where you are now,
it’s being able to document where you started.

These photos are a few years old. My “warehouse” was one of my spare bedrooms. My “work van” was a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. At the time, it didn’t feel like anything special, it was just what I had to work with.

What I’ve come to appreciate about building in public is being able to look back on moments like these with real perspective. The long days, the uncertainty, the figuring-it-out-as-you-go phase. It’s easy to forget how far you’ve come if you don’t capture it along the way.

I’m grateful for the people I’ve connected with here, operators, founders, mentors, and friends who have shared advice, encouragement, and hard truths when I needed them.

I see too many companies sell a service, land a customer, and immediately move on to the next one. Rarely circling back. Rarely asking, “What else can we help with?” At NewAge Refreshments LLC, we do the opposite.

This client is a perfect example.

It started with pantry service.
Then coffee.
Then water.
And now a brand new smart cooler.

In our industry, we call that owning the breakroom.

That’s four services for one customer, and this is just one of nine locations. The takeaway isn’t “sell more.” It’s slow down, take care of the customers you already have, and actually understand their needs. Chances are, there’s more value you can provide if you’re paying attention.

One of my big goals for 2026 is continuing to deepen existing relationships instead of always chasing the next win, and we’re off to a great start.
