So, I see the Ghibli trend is about to die now, And this is the right time to convey my message. Here we go. When this thing popped up, the world split into two. Some people hated it. (They have a valid point) They saw it as overhyped, another wave of aesthetic junk. Then there were those who simply saw it for what it was, a trend. And they’re not wrong either. Trends come, trends go. We’ve seen this cycle a million times before. Personally, I stand with the latter. Let me tell you why before you judge me. I live and breathe art. Letters, words...I live day and night with it. So when people talk about the ‘pain of an artist,’ I understand. I get the frustration when something deeply meaningful to you becomes a fleeting trend for the masses. But sit and think, Will this trend actually hurt Miyazaki? No. Ghibli is Miyazaki’s experience. It’s nostalgia. It has meaning. It has intent. The man called AI ‘grotesque’ because he believes nothing can replace true artistic substance. This trend is proving his point. It came, flooded the internet and in a matter of days, it will fade out. Another filter, another aesthetic moment that people will forget when the next shiny thing comes along. But Ghibli has been dominant for decades. People return to it because it’s timeless. And to be honest I feel like this is how art has always worked. There’s the real thing, and then there are echoes of it. You can’t replace substance with aesthetics, no matter how hard you try. That’s why this whole trend feels more like a compliment than a threat. People aren’t imitating mediocrity, they’re imitating greatness. AI is inevitable. It will keep evolving, keep blending into our world, keep testing the limits of what we call ‘art.’ But what AI lacks & what it can never replicate is intent. It doesn’t feel 'nostalgia'. It doesn’t dream. It doesn’t suffer for its creations the way Miyazaki and other true artists do. That’s the difference. So yeah, let the trend run its course. Ghibli’s legacy doesn’t need defending. SSI = Social Selling Index (Live metric. Free. And more honest than your likes.) And hey, SSI isn’t a flex. It’s a diagnostic tool that tells you where your content strategy is leaking influence. It scores you out of 100, across 4 pillars: 🔹 Establish your brand → Posting often ≠ building authority. If this score is low, your message is either vague or forgettable. 🔹 Find the right people → Don’t grow big. Grow relevant. Audit your network. Are you connected to buyers or just peers? 🔹 Engage with insights → Reactions are easy. Signal is rare. If you’re not adding depth, you’re not building equity. 🔹 Build relationships → Are you remembered between posts? DMs. Referrals. Real conversations. This is where inbound begins. I don’t help clients chase an 80+ score. I help them identify why they’re not getting inbound despite consistency. You know what they don’t tell you about success? That it starts to mean less if you’re the only one holding the mic. Last week, I was invited to take a LinkedIn session at Premier ITI, Calicut, as a part of the incredible Udyog Jyothi initiative launched by Snehil Singh, District Collector of Calicut. I’ve done this many times now. But this one felt… different. Because this time I didn’t want it just to be about building personal brands. I wanted them to be aware of bridging personal gaps the kind I carried when I was just starting out. We talked about possibility, about presence, about why this platform matters before you have a title to flaunt. I feel like this is how you show up for the person you used to be. So here’s to more of that… To walking into rooms with more heart. To remembering where you came from and doing something about it. I let two of my team members go when I was just getting started with Reformedia. Sometimes, “letting go” is leadership too. They wanted to walk away and chase something they’d been dreaming of. Their hearts were somewhere else. And I believe you can’t give your 100% if your heart isn’t in it, no matter how talented you are. There were no long exit interviews or retention talks. Just said: “If you know where you need to go next, go. Really go.” They left. And I kept building. I’ve worked in places where you had to serve endless notice, where you couldn’t tell your manager your dreams, where loyalty was measured by how quietly you stayed. I promised myself I wouldn’t recreate that. I’m not building that. This is a space where: → We do great work. → We speak up when we’re not lit up. → We root for each other anyway. Some people might call that “bad business.” I call it respect. That’s the kind of team I want around me. Have you ever thought of reading as networking? Sharing two things about my relationship with books lately. How I see them, and how I’ve started to see them differently. Here’s my first shift.. I have started seeing books as a way of breaking out of my bubble. More like sitting down with great minds I don’t have access to in real life. It’s how I listen to people who think radically differently from me. How I get mentored, challenged, and stretched. Secondly, the way I read now has completely changed. I used to read for the sake of reading. Highlight the good lines and rush to finish the book. But now I read to experience the book. To let it sit with me, ask me hard questions, challenge how I think and work. I intentionally go back to books I’ve already read, And they surprisingly feel brand new. I read The Magic of Thinking Big years back. I just felt it’s motivational stuff. Recently, I read it again, and suddenly every page made sense. “Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it.” Because I am finally in a place where I can hear it differently. I am building something. I know what it feels like to hold a big vision and have to back it with action, energy, and belief ..every single day. And I know how the universe starts to cooperate the moment you stop doubting and start moving with intent. I am surprised, Nothing about the books. But how much we as humans change. How much we outgrow.. How, quietly, we become someone new. #growth
Play the devil’s advocate, I LOVE IT. If everyone is saying, “X is the key to success,” what’s the difference? Most people repeat what’s already been said because it feels safe, familiar, acceptable. But to be a thought leader you need to rewrite everybody’s favorite script. 🔴 Challenge assumptions. 🔴 Poke holes in universal truths. 🔴 Ask the uncomfortable questions no one else is asking. (been doing this my entire life.) Real influence is built by questioning. So the next time you’re about to share a tip, trend, or so-called “proven strategy,” stop and rethink: - Is this actually true for everyone, or just for a few? - What’s the other side of this argument? - What’s being left out of this conversation? Originality isn’t about being different for the sake of it. It’s about thinking deeper, looking beyond the obvious, and saying what others won’t. 🚨 Warning signs: - You feel pressure to post even when you have nothing meaningful to say. - Your content feels more like a chore than an expression. - You’re chasing engagement instead of sharing what actually matters to you. - You’re constantly tweaking your “brand” to fit trends, instead of letting it evolve naturally. - You feel like you need to “be on” all the time even offline. Shift from "output mode" to "impact mode." Not every post needs to go viral. But every post should feel true to you. And yes, take breaks without guilt. The world won’t forget you if you go silent for a few days. But it will forget you if you burn out and quit altogether. Make sure this journey allows you to evolve naturally. If you help people scale talk about what it actually took to scale your own thing. Your stories are your unfair advantage. Use it. Billions of people are saying the exact same thing. ( check your feeds) But only a few get the attention. The other gets ignored. Why? Because facts don’t make people care, stories do. As a personal branding strategist, the first red flag I spot is that people think they need to sound “insightful” or “professional,” so they strip their content of personality.
