I’m a sales-trained product marketer. Gotta know your buyer, build a relationship, and get what they want — to best win them over. I was in B2B SaaS sales for five years, before my pivot to product marketing in 2020. Product marketing makes buying feel less like a generic shoe, and more like a custom running shoe — feeling like it’s built only for you. But before sales I wanted to be a schoolteacher in college. The abysmal salary wasn’t enough to justify my passion for education. So I decided on finance instead. And, would later decide being an investment banker was worse than a basic living wage. That degree did introduce me to one current skill — how to dissect figures to tell a better story. The backstory on why I’m building a product marketing consultancy today. Break Into Product Marketing helps B2B marketing leaders in SaaS close the divide sales leaders feel from marketing teams. You can't win deals from webinar leads if they still don't know what you do after reading "best-in-class" product jargon they don't get. Deals close faster when product messaging resonates to what prospects already know. 😕 “This is an online wholesale marketplace.” 😲 “This is an online version of trade shows you already attend.” Two years of selling shoes at Nike. They buy from those who they understand.” I’ve made it my personal mission since to close the gap between marketing and sales teams, using my nontraditional experiences doing so.
