big news: my startup was just acquired.

don't worry, im not talking about RallyUp... but another business I've spent serious time on called the JLM Scoop.

the JLM Scoop started as a side project while i was leading partnerships at beehiiv. classic case of "hey, i work at a newsletter company, i should probably start a newsletter."

within months it became something bigger:

my loved ones hid from centuries of persecution. they hid during the holocaust. and most recently, they hid on october 7th.

a few weeks ago, i received a dm from someone who meant well.

i will never shy away from my judaism. i will never shy away from how proud i am to live in the land of israel.

hanukkah celebrates miracles: the tiny maccabean army defeating the powerful greeks. 

one vessel of oil burning for eight days when it should’ve lasted one.

but there is another miracle that continues to this day:

whenever the jewish people are attacked, delegitimized, or told to be quiet, we transform that darkness into light and come out twice as strong.

the jewish people are tired of hiding, and so am i.

1) frequency: consistency beats perfection.

pick 1-2 days per week. that's it. i now post 5x/week but started with just wednesdays.

please don't be the person who posts daily for a week then ghosts for 3 months. stick to your schedule for 90 days minimum before adding more.

2) timing: stop majoring in the minors

the best time to post? whenever you'll actually do it.

everyone's obsessed with posting at exactly 8:59am like it's some linkedin cheat code.

meanwhile they spend 3 hours scheduling and 0 hours creating.

post when it's easiest for you. 8pm works? do it. lunch break? perfect.

this is a marathon, not a sprint.

3) experiment fast, fail faster

past 3 months alone i've posted:
- ridiculous memes  
- vulnerable founder stories  
- viral videos
- lead magnets 

you don't know what works until you try everything. don't hate the player, hate the game.

4) beating cringe: find your people (can't skip this one!)

if none of your friends are posting, the initial cringe will feel way worse.

the solution? build your own crew.

start with 5 people who want to build their personal brand. turn on their notifications. comment on their posts. schedule virtual coffees.

suddenly posting doesn't feel weird. it feels like you're part of something.

5) ai: your assistant, not your ghostwriter

use ai smartly or don't use it at all.

good use of ai: brainstorming hooks, finding angles, editing drafts
bad use of ai: copy/pasting chatgpt garbage and calling it content

people can smell ai slop from a mile away.  use ai to amplify your voice, not replace it.
