What’s a piece of BS you read lately? 
How do you stay grounded? (asking a friend.)

This is how they get you.

You walk in swearing you’ll only buy the thing you came for.

Next thing you know, you’re walking out with:
• a tumbler you didn’t need
• a sachet you don’t even like the smell of
• and your 24th mug reminding you you’re “resilient but caffeinated.” 😆

Retail therapy used to be the thing.
Now it’s… binging 3 seasons on Netflix while convincing yourself just one more episode.

But I’ll admit…wandering through At Home or HomeGoods still feels like stepping into the fantasy version of my life.
You know, the one where my house looks like a magazine spread.

Reality? I’m lucky if Sundays don’t involve laundry mountains and Lego landmines on the stairs. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Does retail therapy still count, or have we all just upgraded to streaming therapy?

In this economy, nobody signs a $28K job booked within 24 hours.

And especially for something that's not even an urgent problem.

But who signed that contract to replace all windows?

Yeah, this lunatic right here this week.

That sales guy was aggressive but not pushy. 
He knew us better than we knew ourselves.

Instead of just explaining the job, he painted a complete scenario of what would happen if we didn't replace those 10-year non-warranty windows.

My husband is completely risk-averse and says no to almost anything high-ticket. 🤦🏽‍♀️

This energy dynamic has kept us together for 19 years.

So, what sealed the deal?

- He painted a clear picture of my dream garden window for working from home with natural light and plants.
- He walked through scenarios of water damage from cracks near windows. 
- He broke down energy efficiency savings and explained the difference between cheap products and quality ones with 50-year warranties.

It was hyper-relevant to my situation as a homeowner who knows delaying costs more later.

Most people get stuck explaining what their offer does instead of how it benefits the customer with hyper-relevancy. 

Today's buyers are skeptical, but they also need to see themselves through the transformation.

You can't just wonder, "Yeah, let me see who might be interested." 
If you can't defend what it is that you sell with confidence, no fancy sales page will help you convert.

Money decisions are uncomfortable, but have you ever felt fully alive when everything was comfortable?

I'll wait...while I'm imagining my new windows.

Here’s what no one told you about “playing safe.”

It doesn’t just keep you safe.

It keeps you stuck.
You start mirroring what you think is true.

 And if that “truth” doesn’t align with your beliefs?
 You’ll subconsciously hold yourself back.

Over time, it becomes a pattern.
👉 The best way to disrupt that pattern?

Take control of your alignment.
I didn’t know what to expect at first.

My brain kept whispering:
“Take the easy route.
It’s cheaper. It’s safer. It’s just as effective.”
Avoid conflict.
Avoid change.
Avoid disagreements.

But here’s the thing:
If you want to OWN your "genius," 
To be known…
To be discoverable…
To create a ripple effect…

Playing safe will keep you hidden.
And broke.

The alternative? Explore curiosity.

Because when you’re adulting too much, you dismiss the obvious.
And the obvious is usually your genius.
That’s the irony 🤯

I didn’t realize it at first.
But I had quietly outgrown my business.

From the outside, it looked like I had the dream setup.
No boss. No commute. No 9–5.

I could work from anywhere. Wear yoga pants.
People would say, “You’re so lucky, you get to run your own business.”

But what they couldn’t see was the truth.
That “freedom” had turned into 24/7 availability.
My phone was glued to my hand.
Emails at 10 p.m.
Saturday afternoons spent dreading deadlines.
I said yes to any work that came my way.
Because I believed, “Never turn down paid work.”

The patterns crept in slowly. Disguised as a hustle.
Until a family health crisis snapped me out of it.

Suddenly, everything I was chasing, agency dreams, SOPs, certifications, didn’t matter.

The money was fine, but not enough to justify what I was trading.

I couldn’t keep pretending busyness was progress.
That pause forced me to look inward.

And what I saw wasn’t pretty.
Busyness had become my coping mechanism.
Every overbooked calendar and custom proposal kept me from facing stress, loneliness, and the craving for belonging.

After having twins, the pressure only grew louder.
I wanted to prove I could hold it all together.
Instead, I lost touch with my own significance.
I started to resent the work I once loved. 

Old colleagues would reach out with projects, and I’d say yes out of habit.
I resented being seen as “the doer” who always delivered, no matter the cost.

But even in the mess, a thread was there.
I loved the business side of conversations.
Not just designing, but digging into stories.
Spotting themes. Helping people uncover the essence of who they were.

One of my first clients, a friend from the gym, attended my first webinar.
It was called something cringeworthy like “5 Steps to Building a Client Magnet.”
I shake my head, looking back.
But it worked.

A lot has changed since then, but one thing I know for sure. 
Principles behind solid foundations never change. 

She became my first premium client after two years of freelancing.
It wasn’t the slides or the five steps.
It was reassurance. Certainty. Belief.

That’s when I realized I’d been doing this work all along.
I just hadn’t owned it as my genius.

And that’s the irony of our genius.
What feels obvious to us is what others value most.
We dismiss it. Assume everyone can do it.
Packaging all of those nuances and hidden insights is not easy.
I’ll be the first to admit it, and you definitely don’t need to try to do it alone.

But those who choose to build around it create more real freedom for themselves
and space for others.

I broke the pattern when I accepted that a business built in survival mode can’t sustain itself.

At some point, you outgrow the misaligned model.
Your genius deserves more than a survival-mode business.

Have you ever stayed at an Airbnb where the experience didn’t match the description?

All hype. Mixed reviews. 
And then… meh.

If you spent $400 a night, you’d expect more than “meh.”

You’d expect lighter shoulders, a clearer mind, and maybe even a little spark of inspiration before you head back to real life.

But most offers fail to connect with the right buyers because...
They’re stuffed with fake countdown timers and Hormozi-inspired bonuses…
 But the substance? Missing.
The trust behind the promise? Foggy.
The experience? Forgettable.

Cue the buyer’s remorse after sitting through a pitch-filled “value stack” webinar selling a $997 course (seriously, is that still a thing? 🤣).

When it comes to the LTV of that client? That’s where it ends.

On the surface, they promise transformation. But when buyers can’t see themselves moving from where they are today to where they want to be tomorrow, trust fades. Authority fades. And referrals dry up.

I know this because early in my business, I was doing the same thing.
Hustling weekends. Delivering projects at 3 pm on Saturdays. Piecemealing offers that barely covered the cost of my twins’ birthday party.

And if this is still you heading into Q4?
👉 Dreading on work and emails from demanding clients
👉 Feeling a twinge of resentment because you’re jealous of friends in 9–5s who can actually unplug.
👉 Convincing yourself that once things “calm down,” you’ll finally package your signature offer… but “busy” keeps winning.

Need a little tough love on Monday?

Those aren’t flexibility perks of entrepreneurship.

They’re pretzels covered with heavy symptoms of “I can’t focus on the ONE aligned - offer that makes my life and business sustainable.”

You end up with an offer soup that looks more like a Cheesecake Factory menu.
Resentment builds. Energy drains. Low-ticket, misaligned clients start slipping through the cracks.

Girlfriend, put a 🛑 sign and ⏸️ instead:
✅ Get clarity in your zone of genius.
✅ Map it into an offer you’re excited to deliver.
✅ Bridge the gap with dream clients who deeply value your expertise.
✅ Build a repeatable system that creates results you can stand behind.
✅ Move “Hell Yes” buyers through a codified approach only you can deliver.

Because in 2025, clarity and direction aren’t luxuries.
They’re survival skills.
