Would you believe that a girl from a remote village in Shandong, China, without electricity or basic amenities, could one day stand as a Chairwoman of the Board on the global stage? This is my story—my journey from humble beginnings to the forefront of entrepreneurship and empowerment. My early years were filled with determination to change my family's fate. From working as a hotel maid, an esthetician, to running a dry cleaning business and even starting a matchmaking service for successful women, each step was a leap towards a bigger dream. The adventure took a daring turn when I moved to the United States in my mid-20s, with little English, starting as a nanny before diving into design studies. The real test came in 2008, during the financial crisis. With a one-year-old baby by my side and on the brink of single motherhood, I founded Lush Décor Home. My path was not easy, strewn with business betrayals, two amicable divorces, and a leap into the unknown world of private equity for my first business exit. Despite initially not knowing what "PE" stood for, I navigated my way to financial freedom and handed over the torch to a talented leadership team, led by a woman CEO Paola Pretti, as I embraced the role of Chairwoman of the Board and Chief Purpose Officer. This journey has been about more than just overcoming challenges; it's been a process of continuous learning and standing up after countless failures. Today, I am a dedicated champion for girls and women everywhere. Through sharing my story, I aim to instill hope and strength in those who find themselves in the shoes of my younger self or facing similar battles. So, if you asked me years ago if I believed that girl from the village could achieve all this, my answer would have been fueled by hope, but shrouded in doubt. Yet, here I am. This narrative is a living proof that with unwavering determination, the support of professional communities, and the courage to take risks, breaking barriers and achieving dreams isn't just possible—it's inevitable. To everyone facing their own set of challenges, remember: Your beginning does not define your destiny. With each step forward, you too can transform your dreams from mere fantasies into your reality. Let's embark on this journey of empowerment together, breaking barriers and redefining what's possible. Join me for shared experience and find me on Instagram too @jennyjingzhu

Last week, I had the honor of joining an incredible group of women leaders at the NJ Women Business Leaders Luncheon hosted by JPMorganChase. It was an afternoon filled with candid conversations, insightful takeaways, and the kind of energy that reminds me why spaces like these are so important. During our fireside chat, I had the privilege of sitting alongside Suzanne Strassburger Reidy to discuss the journeys that shaped us as entrepreneurs. From navigating the early challenges of scaling a business to making pivotal decisions like private equity partnerships, these conversations reinforced that no path is linear—but every step teaches us something valuable. One of the biggest themes that resonated with me was legacy. For me, that means using my experiences to help others forge their own paths. That’s why I’m so passionate about the Dream Weavers Foundation—creating opportunities and resources for women entrepreneurs and dreamers to build something of their own. A huge thank you to J.P. Morgan and our incredible moderators Lisa Kopff and Michelle Buonfiglio for curating such a meaningful discussion. And to all the attendees—thank you for showing up, engaging, and inspiring with your own journeys. Let’s keep building, supporting, and lifting each other up. What’s a lesson or insight that has shaped your leadership journey? I’d love to hear. Honored to have shared my journey with Asians in MLS (AIM) and Women @ MLS for #WomensHistoryMonth! From growing up in a small village in China to scaling Lush Décor into a $100M+ business, my path has been filled with challenges, lessons, and unexpected turns. I had the most incredible dinner with a group of bright, ambitious young women from MyNYLA, an amazing initiative founded by #Samaya, dedicated to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs. Sitting with these high school students, I was reminded of what it feels like to be at the very beginning of a dream—full of curiosity, big ideas, and that spark of possibility. We talked about the realities of entrepreneurship, the power of resilience, and why sometimes the hardest but most important thing is simply taking that first step. I saw in them the future founders, innovators, and leaders who will shape the world in ways we can’t even imagine yet. And honestly? I left just as inspired as they did. At Dream Weavers Foundation, we believe that every dream deserves a chance—and seeing these young women carve out spaces to learn and support each other reminds me why we do this work. Huge shoutout to #samaya for building this incredible platform and for including me in such a special evening. I can’t wait to see where their journeys take them! 💡✨ #NYLA #DreamWeavers #EntreesWithEntrepreneurs #FutureLeaders #DreamBig #Entrepreneurship #WomenWhoLead YPO,

From a tiny village in China with no electricity or plumbing… To sharing my story on @nbcnewsdaily with Vicky Nguyen and Morgan Radford 🙏🏽💫 This conversation is one I won’t soon forget. We spoke about where I came from, how my grandmother’s loom first planted the seed for Lush Decor, and what it took to build a multi-million dollar business as an immigrant, a mother, and a dreamer fueled by grit and belief. We talked about identity, imposter syndrome, and why I launched the Dream Weavers Foundation—to help other women own their voice and step into the power of their story. And the dream doesn’t stop here… I’m humbled to share that Dream Weaver debuted as the #1 New Release on Amazon during launch week! Every share, every purchase, every kind word—thank you. You’ve helped bring this story to life. Let’s keep it going! ✨ Get the book here: https://lnkd.in/e29Zpjk6 ✨ If it resonates with you, I’d be so grateful if you left a review—it helps others find the story too. ✨ Tag a fellow dreamer who needs to hear this #DreamWeaver #NBCNewsDaily #PowerOfStorytelling #AsianWomenLead #ImmigrantStories #WomensVoicesMatter #ChasingDreams #AmazonBestseller #TopNewRelease #JennyJingZhu #VisibilityIsPower #WomenSupportingWomen
✨Tomorrow, the dream becomes real.✨ After years of reflection, writing, healing, and growth, Dream Weaver launches into the world. This book is more than my story—it’s a love letter to every woman who’s ever faced impossible odds and kept going anyway. To every immigrant who’s ever felt invisible. To every dreamer who dared to believe in something more. As we count down the hours, I wanted to share five powerful lessons from Dream Weaver that have shaped me along the way 📖: 1️⃣ Resilience is Built in the Darkest Moments My journey proves that rock bottom is not the end—it’s a foundation. I chose to see my lowest points as opportunities to grow stronger rather than reasons to give up. True resilience is forged in hardship, not comfort. 2️⃣ Trust Yourself—Even When No One Else Does Whether starting a business, navigating betrayal, or facing uncertainty, I learned that trusting myself was my greatest asset. No one can give you permission to succeed except you. 3️⃣ Every Setback is a Setup for Something Greater I lost my business to betrayal, yet I rebuilt it bigger and stronger. Instead of dwelling on injustice, I turned adversity into fuel for reinvention. Setbacks are often just redirections. 4️⃣ Dreams Are Woven One Thread at a Time From carrying bricks as a child to becoming a CEO, my journey was built on small but intentional steps. Big dreams don’t happen overnight—they are woven together, one decision at a time. 5️⃣ You Are Enough After years of striving, my biggest realization was that I didn’t have to prove my worth—I already had it. The most important lesson is knowing that you are enough, just as you are. 💫 Thank you to every person who has supported me on this path. Your belief means everything.
