Wait a minute. It’s not about me. It’s about you. I used to think that writing stories and articles involved covering topics that mattered to me, not considering whether or not they matter to others. But years of studying story and human psychology taught me otherwise. One of the most extraordinary things l learned throughout my self-education journey is that people will not listen to anything I say unless they first feel heard. Unless what I say matters to them and how they see themselves. Now, let me turn the focus on you. If any story or article I write on this blog doesn’t help you navigate your world successfully, you won’t get past the first sentence. But, if your cognitive unconscious mind determines that the story or article does not affect your survival, it will persuade you to move on to the next blog, where it can find information to help you navigate this crazy world. Okay. Let’s get back to talking about you. What resonates with me doesn’t necessarily resonate with you. What’s important to me may be irrelevant to you. After mentally processing these monumental truths for some time, an epiphany struck. To help you succeed, I need to learn more about the target audience I write for. What, exactly, does this mean? Specifically? I need to learn more about you. What thoughts and concerns do you have? What are your goals? Your fears? Your misbeliefs? What problems are you trying to solve? I also learned to ask the most critical question. Why? As in, why do you have those thoughts and concerns? Why do you strive to achieve your unique and specific goals? Why do you fear what you fear? Why do your unique misbeliefs keep you from achieving your goals? Why do you want to solve the problems you want to solve? With this in mind, I will not write stories and articles about topics that interest me. I aim to write stories about things that interest you. Something that you can use in your life. I want to write about things that genuinely help you. My goal is to help you become the most authentic version of yourself via stories and articles offering tips, advice, and insights that resonate with you, your world, and your place. In this way, we grow together. In closing, let me leave you with a Hopi proverb. Those who tell the stories rule the world. This nugget of wisdom gets me out of bed every morning, ready to take on the day’s challenges. It may motivate you more remarkably each day as you pursue each endeavor. Tell your story. Rule your world. And remember, I’m here for you.
