Let me take you back to the year 1999. It was a different time—when computers were not a household staple but more of a luxury, reserved for offices, tech enthusiasts, or the exceptionally privileged. At that time, assembling a computer with all the essential components—the CPU, monitor, and UPS—would cost around ₹11,000 to ₹14,000. And trust me, that was already considered quite expensive.

That year, there was a trade fair at Pragati Maidan, Delhi—a bustling event where companies would showcase their latest innovations.  It was there that I stumbled upon a display by Compaq, where they had set up a sleek, shiny, powerful desktop computer that instantly caught my eye. 

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐠? 𝐀 𝐣𝐚𝐰-𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 ₹70,000.

Now, to put things into perspective, this was 1999. Back then, ₹70,000 was not just a substantial amount—it was a small fortune. But in that moment, standing in front of that Compaq computer, I knew I needed it.That computer symbolized something greater to me—a doorway to possibilities, a path to a future that I could envision but hadn’t yet fully understood.

When I returned home, brimming with excitement, I shared my wish with my father and friends.They laughed, genuinely thinking I had lost my mind. “You’re crazy,” they said. 

But something inside me refused to let go of that dream. Financially, I was in no position to make such an extravagant purchase. But for me, it wasn’t about the money—it was about investing in my future. I could see a path that no one else could. I knew, deep down, that this computer was going to be more than just a device—it was going to be my ticket to a world I was determined to explore.

So, against all odds and everyone’s advice, I took the leap. How I managed to make it happen is a story for another day—one filled with countless struggles, sleepless nights, and some very creative problem-solving. But what I can tell you now is that within just 30 days, I had that Compaq computer in my room. I was the first in my entire city to own that model. And let me tell you—it felt like I had conquered the world.

Owning that computer changed everything for me.  It was my first big, bold decision.Looking back now, I realize that this was the first moment I chose to step out of the league. It was the moment I decided to stop living by others’ expectations and start charting my own course. That computer wasn’t just a machine; it was a testament to my  belief .

Sometimes, the things that seem impossible are simply waiting for you to decide they’re worth the risk. And in those moments, when the world thinks you’re crazy, that’s when you know you’re onto something truly special.
The rest, as they say, is history. 

That leap of faith was the first of many. And it’s the same courage that continues to guide me today—whether in business, in life, or in the dreams I still chase.

I used to chase the elusive '𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦'.
I thought it was the 𝘬𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴.
Until I realised it was a 𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛.

Here's why.

Life isn't neatly divided into '𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬' and '𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦'.
It's a beautiful, chaotic 𝘮𝘪𝘹 𝘰𝘧 𝘣𝘰𝘵𝘩.
Instead of striving for 'balance', I've embraced 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆.

When I founded Payomatix, I was all in.
Late nights, early mornings.
Weekends were just another workday.

But I also found 𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀.

These moments weren't 'balanced'.

↳ Life is unpredictable.

↳ Let work and personal life complement each other.

𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚: 𝘽𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚.
↳ Focus on the moment, whether it's a meeting or family dinner.

𝙁𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮: 𝘽𝙚 𝙖𝙙𝙖𝙥𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚.
↳ Plans will change, and that's okay.

𝘽𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨: 𝙎𝙚𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙨, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙙.
↳ Know when to switch off, but also when to dive in.

So, stop chasing balance.

Embrace the chaos. Live a life that's authentic and fulfilling. Enjoy the candle-light dinners 𝘼𝙉𝘿 early office mornings.

“𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.” 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. 

But let me tell you a story…

When I was six years old, I was punished by my mother. 🤐

𝘞𝘩𝘺? 𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘢  𝘧𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. 🍎

At the time, I was confused, hurt, and so young. The punishment left a mark on me that, even at the age of 50, I can’t forget.

All I did was share...

𝐈 𝐤𝐞𝐩𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟, 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐈 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠?

They always told us that sharing was good. That helping others was something to be proud of. 🤲

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘢𝘺, 𝘐 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯. 𝘈 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘩 𝘰𝘯𝘦.

Yet, that moment created a ripple effect in my life.

Instead of shutting down, I did the opposite.

𝐈 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. 🌟

I started helping more people. I found joy in giving. I discovered the beauty of making someone’s day just a little bit brighter.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐈 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞.

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨: 𝘕𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵. 🌍

Yes, I’ve been let down. People have broken my trust. They’ve taken advantage of my kindness. 🤷‍♀️

But you know what? That’s okay.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐈’𝐦 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐤𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚. 🙏

𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴? 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘬𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘢 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩.

The happiness I get from helping others? It’s far greater than any disappointment someone else’s behavior can bring.

𝐒𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮:

💡 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Even if people don’t always respond in kind. Even if it feels like it’s a thankless task sometimes.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about them.

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. 💪

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝.
That’s what defines you.

Mentorship is one of the most powerful ways to grow—both as a mentor and a mentee. 

Recently while guiding my teams, I had lost my voice from all the talking (yes, there was a lot), but it reminds you of how essential it is to keep teams aligned, motivated, and, yes, disciplined when needed. And that is one of the core skill of a mentor.

Growing up, I was often brushed off with:
“You’re older, let it go.”  

Every time I tried to voice a concern, I was told to let it go because I was the “mature” one.  

As I grew up, this refrain evolved with me.  

My youngest sister was deemed too childish,  my middle sister was labeled naïve, and me? I was simply “too sensible for my own good.”  

So naturally, I was expected to drop every issue and move on because I was the “responsible one.”  

I wasn’t overweight, but I was strong. So, when heavy household chores came only my way, I was told: “You’re strong, let it go.”  

I did well in school, without tuitions or help. So: “You’re smart, stop comparing to them and let it go.”  

But what truly stung was when my confidence was mistaken for something else entirely.   I was labeled ‘awara’.  

While the literal English translation of the Hindi word "आवारा" (Awara) translates to "vagabond" or "wanderer", it carries a connotation of being irresponsible—an aimless drifter, with a low character, loitering around.

My social confidence was dismissed as being rebellious. “Not every child is ‘awara’ like you. Let it go.”  

Then, I entered the workforce. Success didn’t come easy, but it came. And then? 

“You’re just lucky.” Apparently, my achievements were just a stroke of good fortune, not the product of hard work.

When I got married, it became, “You have a great husband, don’t compare.” Sure, the universe just handed me a perfect marriage without any effort or compromise, right?  

Then I became a mother. The narrative shifted to: “You have great kids, don’t compare.” So raising them with values, love, and effort had nothing to do with their behavior.

And honestly, I do not heed any attention to this at this point in my life. 

But recently, when I tried to address capability gaps in my company, encouraging my team to push harder, I heard: “You’re a workaholic, don’t expect the same from other.”  

At each milestone, praise and recognition for my own contributions were deflected. Instead of acknowledging my effort, the reality is that people use our strengths as a convenient excuse to absolve themselves from trying harder.  

The world is quick to dismiss your efforts when it’s easier to attribute them to luck, privilege, or some innate advantage.   They’ll pin your hard work to ANYTHING but you.  

I have yet to hear true acknowledgment for my own abilities. And as I continue to grow, I’m now waiting for the day someone tells me: “You’re crazy, don’t compare yourself.” 

And for everyone who’s ever been told to “let it go”, remember: your efforts and achievements are yours. Own them.

I learned a powerful lesson early in my career: success isn't about working harder—𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲.

In the world of fintech and entrepreneurship, the pressure to keep pushing can be IMMENSE.

We often equate long hours ⌛ of dedication and relentless effort with ➡️ success.

But here's a truth I discovered:

B͟u͟r͟n͟o͟u͟t͟ ͟h͟e͟l͟ps͟ ͟n͟o͟ ͟o͟n͟e͟.͟

A few years ago, I found myself at a crossroads. I was juggling the demands and my commitment to my different companies. Long days turned into sleepless nights, and soon, I was running on empty.

One evening, my daughter asked me why I was always so tired.
Her innocent question 𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥.

I realised that in my quest to achieve more, 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴.

So, I made a change.
I started 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 selfcare and mindfulness.

I learned to recognise the signs of burnout and to step back when necessary.

→ Set clear boundaries
↳ Work time vs. personal time
→ Delegated tasks
↳ Trusted my team more
→ Practised mindfulness
↳ Daily meditation and reflection
→ Scheduled regular breaks
↳ Short walks, family time

The impact was 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱.

Not only did my productivity improve, but I also found joy in my work again.

I became a more present leader, a better mentor, and a happier person.

Success isn't just about what we achieve professionally. It's about living a balanced, fulfilling life.

𝗔 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁.

I’ve often heard the phrase “women need empowerment.”
