* Won 13 hackathons including first place at Cornell, JP Morgan Code For Good, IBM Call for Code, Estee Lauder, NYU etc. Competitions had 50-100 teams. Got internships, $10K & Europe trip to dine w Clinton. * Went to 8 bootcamps including CodePath, CTP, Impact Fellowship, Pathrise, Facebook ABCS, Product School, etc. I am lazy and needed structure to motivate me. + If I am around smarter people... I benefit * Owned 2 patents on AWS cost optimization for ML Team. Essentially found a way to get costs per AWS service per Github repo per day with action items... was never done before so my friends put in a patent * I was 3/21 promoted to senior associate software engineer at capital one 4 years after my high school teacher said I would never be cut out for CS. I was promoted over folks who had masters in CS from Ivies * I started Headstarter over taking a hedgefund job to serve CS students so they can build skills, speak confidently, write clearly, think creatively and make it easy to gain respect from corporate leadership * I asked 30+ engineering leaders if they randomly got where they are. Everyone said no. They "wanted" it. They "worked hard" for it. They got some "big break" along the way. Also they had good people skills. *Key to winning a hackathon: 1) Team: I worked with 20+ before finding my core four 2) Idea: think hard about the world's most common problems and why you care 3) Pitch: share story, good UI, what failed I answer every DM if you are CS Student - Please don't hesitate to ask
