During my tenure, I successfully built a vibrant community of Minecraft enthusiasts, assembled a dedicated team, developed and launched a Minecraft server, and conducted a groundbreaking demo by launching the server into the sky on a model rocket while actively playing Minecraft.

After successfully scaling and positioning IDA Connect as an industry leader, I exited the business to pursue new, exciting opportunities in the tech sector.

IT Consultant turned eCommerce integrator. For the last 15 years I’ve been helping large companies like banks connect their systems so they don’t have to waste time on needless tasks. Over that time I am sure I have saved countless hours and frustration. One day someone asked if I could do that for their eCommerce business and I said sure, not realising that what we will do is massively reduce her admin time by connecting her systems together.

By connecting her sales channels, warehouse and wholesale systems to her ERP system, we are able to keep her stock levels up to date to reduce the number of oversells. We get the orders from the sales channels to the warehouse within minutes so they can be shipped faster. Keeping the order status up to date is helping keep customers happy as they know exactly whats happening with their order.

The last few months of pre-seed fundraising have been… well a journey at the very least.

I knew going in that fundraising wasn't going to easy, especially starting the entire process in November. A bit nuts in a way.

There's a lot I've had to do. Lots of persistence. Lots of long hours. Lots of conversations. Lots of hearing “this is interesting, but not for us.” Lots of learning how to clearly explain something so complicated as rocket flight so non rocket scientists can understand.

What has surprised me (in a good way) is how generous people have been with their time. 

Investors who weren’t a fit still offered feedback. Founders further along shared hard-earned lessons. And a few conversations turned into genuine momentum rather than polite curiosity.

We’re now in the middle of our pre-seed raise to start the transition from building Rockets to Commercial Operations. Sooo excited.

Our test stand is growing up. Holey crap check out the size of the new stand the team got finished today. 

This new stand should see us through all the way to testing the 15KN engine later this year as start work on our bigger rocket. 

Our small exisiting one was on the edge of being able to handle the 4kN engine so we built the bigger stand now. 

A hectic testing schedule is coming up to qualify our engines for the March launch.

What's one of the most important parts of a suborbital rocket launch most people don't think about?

When people think and talk about rockets most of the time it's about the launch. 

Fire. Noise. Acceleration.

But if you’re building a real launch business, launch is only half the job.

What matters just as much for companies like Sunburnt Space is what happens after the engine shuts off.

We’re selling payload delivery, which means we must be able to bring rockets and customer hardware back intact, every time.

We have chosen parachutes to get the job done. 

They sound simple enough right. Well they aren’t. Probably simpler than propulsive landing but still there are many things to think about. 

Timing, loads, winds, attitude. Get any of it wrong and recovery fails.

That’s why we’ve designed recovery from the start to be a fail safe and not a checkbox.

Actually to get any sort of permission to launch you need to be sure you have a solid recovery but even then things go wrong.
