When we activate the inner artist, creativity never stops. Although this can be the recipe for chaos and destruction for our product MVP.

In Startups and product design there is a golden rule that never fails: less is more.

This is something Dieter Rams, the legendary designer of Braun, knew very well.

His principles of good design have not only stood the test of time, but they can also be the key to making your Minimum Viable Product (MVP) stand out among many.

Here I show you how to apply these principles to your MVP:

1. Make it innovative: Your MVP should offer something unique that isn't on the market. Think about how it can solve problems in new and creative ways.

2. Make it useful: Every feature of your MVP should have a clear purpose and improve the lives of your users.

3. Aesthetic design: Don't ignore the appearance of your MVP. An attractive design can be as important as its functionality.

4. Make it understandable: If people don't understand how to use your MVP quickly, they are likely to abandon it. Keep simplicity in the interface and instructions.

5. Don't overdo it: Avoid adding too many features. An overloaded MVP can confuse users and dilute your central message.

6. Make it honest: Don't promise more than your MVP can deliver. Honesty builds trust with your users.

7. Longevity: Design your MVP with the future in mind. It should be able to evolve without losing its essence.

8. Be thorough down to the last detail: Small details can make a big difference in the user experience.

9. Respect the environment: Consider the environmental impact of your MVP. A sustainable design can be a major selling point.

10. Minimal design: In the end, less is more. Remove everything that is not essential to leave room for what really matters.

One of the biggest mistakes I made as a founder was assuming that I knew exactly what my users needed without asking them.

It's easy to fall into the trap of building based on assumptions.

As a founder and designer, I've learned that deeply understanding our users is more than just a phase; it's the essence of a successful MVP.

→ Imagine this:

You're designing your MVP with the vision of solving a specific problem. But you do it from your perspective and assumptions. You launch and realize that the timing and situation of your ideal user are pointing in another direction.

A headache, right?

The key is empathy and observation.

By immersing ourselves in the world of our users, we discover their true needs, often hidden between lines of behavior and daily habits.

Talking directly to them
Conducting user tests
Validating each feature
Developing what's approved

These points can be the difference between a product that simply works and one that truly solves the problem.

X - Don't make the mistake I did.

Invest time in getting to know your users. Your MVP will be much more valuable after that.

Define Your Ideal User Profile: The Key to MVP Success.

Being straightforward and agile doesn't mean you have a magic wand to achieve your goals or anything like that.

Here's my basic plan for pulling off a solid MVP:

1. Get to know your users: Understand their needs to create something useful.
2. Test your idea: Make a prototype and gather feedback.
3. Make it user-friendly: An intuitive design is key.
4. Develop efficiently: Use tools that help you move forward quickly.
5. Launch with a strategy: Be well-prepared to introduce your product to the world.

Be honest about your goals and about when you wish to achieve them.

No magical shortcuts, just clear steps.

Keep working hard. Really hard.

People using Lean startup and MVPs like a magic wand

I know you could be afraid of the technical part of your MVP idea, but hiring a developer or finding a tech co-founder could be the wrong strategy.
 
Think on this →
 
In the startup world, especially for those in pre-seed or seed stages, it's common to feel that by hiring a tech guru, all technical problems will magically be solved.
 
But is that really the case?
 
Over the years, I've seen this mistake repeated time and again, and my advice is always the same: focus all your effort and your team's on validating and measuring the real problem.
 
Especially in the early stages of the product:

↓ 
- Define the goal.
- Set the delivery deadline.
- Define the "how" to achieve it.
- Evaluate and measure both the good and the bad.
- Draw conclusions to improve and repeat if necessary.
 
The reality is that technology is just one piece of the puzzle.
 
What you really need is a comprehensive strategy that encompasses everything from a clear definition of your product to market validation and the user experience.
 
It's not just about coding; it's about understanding your users and building something they truly need and can use.
