ChatGPT releases shopping features for its search function OpenAI is now introducing shopping features across all subscription tiers for users that conduct searches. Here's my deep dive into the announcement. What are the shopping features? 1. Visually rich product carousels 2. Pricing, ratings, and product details 3. Personalized recommendations based on your query, saved preferences, and memories 4. Links to learn more or purchase the products (note: users can’t buy directly in ChatGPT) These features are launching first in fashion, beauty, home goods, and electronics. As far as I can tell, the product carousels and different merchants appear only on the desktop version of ChatGPT. The mobile app does not have photos and only includes a single link within the product name. To guarantee seeing the search features, the users has to select the "Search" icon. When I asked the same question without selecting "Search," I received the traditional results without photos or links. How does ChatGPT recommend products? OpenAI says that ChatGPT uses structured metadata from 3rd party providers (price and product descriptions) and other third party content providers (reviews) to recommend products. The only 3rd party provider cited in the help documents is Bing. Adam Fry, the ChatGPT search product lead at OpenAI said in a WIRED article, that the reviews are coming from a variety of online sources, such as WIRED and Reddit. OpenAI emphasizes that the products are not ads, not sponsored, and have no affiliate links. The company is exploring direct feed integrations with merchants. There’s an interest form for merchants (linked in comments). Hyper-personalized product recommendations What stood out to me was the emphasis on personalization. By default, ChatGPT is set to remember all of a logged in user’s conversations. It uses that context to surface product recommendations in addition to the context in the prompt. However, users can also explicitly tell ChatGPT about their preferences by typing “Remember” followed by the preferences, such as dietary preferences. Another way for users to get hyper-personalized recommendations is to go to Settings > Personalization > Customize. Under customize is a form for the user to fill out their name, job, traits and other preferences. What is the impact for brands and retailers? ChatGPT is growing quickly. For this announcement, OpenAI reported it processed 1 billion searches last week. However, in March, Google said that it processes 5+ trillion searches per year and over a billion daily shopping actions. While traffic referred from ChatGPT is increasing to websites, it's hard to say if it can unseat Google or other traffic referral methods, such as email.
⛳️ Wow, it’s estimated The Masters Shop makes $1m per hour during tournament week. $16,000 per minute. $277 every second! 🤑
🤓 ⁉️ Google Cloud Next was really inspiring and A2A is exciting, but I have even more questions and ideas now! I've been thinking a lot about how this AI Agent architecture relates to what Google and/or Salesforce could build with Gemini & Agentforce 2.0, as well as some questions SF customers and partners should be asking. There are a lot more, but here are 8 questions that I've come up with: 1. How soon until Gemini and Agentspace can do what a lot of Salesforce consultants are doing for their customers today? 2. If customers have a lot of data, will they want to DIY their AI? 3. How will users ultimately interact with these AI Agents inside and outside of Salesforce? 4. Does Agentforce and Agentspace compete with, or complement external platforms like the one depicted? 5. Where and how should fine-tuning be done? And by who? 6. Where should observability and evaluation be done with Gemini, and/or Agentforce? 7. Will Agentforce really be able to handle complex agentic patterns (like ReAct, planning, reflection) common in frameworks like LangChain and AG2? 8. How will the pricing and cloud commits work if the majority of the actual AI compute is powered by Gemini? Any other questions, or thoughts / feedback on these questions? Who will be trusted and educated enough to help Google & Salesforce prospects and customers make the right long-term decisions to architect these platforms together? How will they be using AI to help?
💡 Especially now in the Agentforce 2.0 era, every Salesforce customer needs a Center of Excellence (COE) and why Global companies need to give someone from their globalization / localization team a seat at the table! Anything I've missed? 🌐 Enterprise guardrails with a global lens – The CoE governs architecture, security, and releases; adding localization bakes international requirements into every design review instead of fixing them post-launch. 🚀 Faster, safer global releases (now with autonomous agents) – Linguistic QA rides the same CI/CD pipeline—and Agentforce Testing Center—catching functional and linguistic issues before cut-over. 🛡️ Built-in compliance – GDPR consent text, WCAG alt-tags, and regional disclaimers are embedded at build-time, not patched after an audit. 😊 Higher CSAT & lower case volume – Localized bots, emails, and knowledge articles let customers self-serve in their own language, lifting NPS and deflecting tickets. 📂 Single hub for standards and strings – Component libraries, pick-list values, and Translation Memory (TM) live together, so teams reuse both code and copy—not reinvent them. 💳 Stop paying twice: Activate the TransPerfect stack you probably already license, eliminating duplicate or unnecessary translation spend. 💰 Hard-dollar savings through TM leverage – Routing every sprint’s copy through the same TM drives 30-50 % cost reductions after the first release and slashes time-to-market for new locales. 🗣️ Consistent brand voice everywhere – Terminology databases flow back into design-system copy, pick-list labels, and record types, so product names and legal language stay on-brand in every market. 🤖 Agentforce prompts that don’t embarrass you – Prompt Builder localizes generated content automatically, but quality skyrockets when prompts, guardrails, and few-shot examples are pre-translated with your TM and glossaries—and the CoE enforces that workflow. 🧠 Foundation for multilingual GenAI – TM and glossaries become clean training data for Einstein and Agentforce models; specifying locales in your models boosts accuracy for data masking, toxicity scoring, and feedback loops. 🌍 Scalable roadmap for the next 50 markets – With CRM localization owned by the CoE, new clouds, acquisitions, or region-specific sites roll out in parallel—no costly “globalization retrofit” required. #Salesforce #Localization #Agentforce #DigitalTransformation #GlobalGrowth #TranslationMemory #CenterOfExcellence #SalesforceCOE
