I started writing with 20 years of experience in roles ranging from software engineer to architect and consultant, 30+ projects, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. Still, I was unsure if my writing would be valuable enough for readers.

When you start following someone, check their credibility outside LinkedIn and other social networks first. Do they have the credibility to talk about this? 

I know this because many people copied my work, style, and topics. The latter is harder to catch, but it is wrong. This is not the right address to follow if someone doesn't talk from their own experience.

LinkedIn is not real life! It is an abstraction, and it can be very elusive.

As a developer, you're not paid to code

You're paid to solve problems

The earlier you get it, the better for you

When you get the problem, try to solve it without coding

If you must code, then do it

It took me many years to learn this

𝟭. 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸. I lost everything twice before I was 14. War doesn't negotiate. But my skills and people stayed. My ability to start over stayed. Everything else? Gone. Build what can't burn.

𝟮. 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹. Does your boss make bad calls? Not your problem to solve. But your effort, your learning, how you show up, that's yours. People waste years arguing with things they can't change. Don't be that person.

𝟯. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. I see this everywhere. Smart people, capable people, just... waiting. Waiting for approval. For the perfect moment. For someone to tell them it's okay. Nobody's coming to save you. You want to do something? Do it. Then deal with what happens after. High agency isn't complicated; it's just refusing to wait.

𝟰. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴. I read 2-3 hours every day, and I have 5000 books in my library. Not because I have to, but because the day I stop growing is the day I'm done. Your brain is a muscle. Use it or lose it. The world keeps moving. You'd better keep up.

𝟱. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲. That safe job you're hanging onto? It's costing you growth. The predictable life? It's killing the version of you that could do more. I've seen people rot from the inside, chasing comfort. They had potential, but they chose the easy path. Stay a little hungry, a little uncomfortable. 

𝟲. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝗽𝘁. Skip sleep now, pay with focus later. Ignore fitness, pay with your 50s. You think you're getting away with it. You're not. The bill's just delayed.

𝟳. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀. Not code, not technology. I've led teams, shipped systems, and hit every metric that's supposed to matter. None of it means anything if the people around you are burned out or miserable. Be easy to work with. This is bringing you to some heights your knowledge will never reach.

𝟴. 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 "𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀" 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁. A real crisis is rare. The rest is bad boundaries and saying yes to things you should've declined three weeks ago. Learn to let things fail that deserve to fail.

𝟵. 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱. Some people started with money. Connections. Safety. You didn't. I didn't. Stop comparing your lap 3 to someone else's lap 30. Different race. Different starting line.

𝟭𝟬. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. Don't accept things because "that's how it's always been done." Question the assumptions. Test the beliefs. Push back on the consensus. Six years in research taught me this: most accepted truths are just untested assumptions that nobody bothered to question. Think for yourself. Always.

When we choose programming languages, we usually decide based on their syntax, performance, or even learning curve. 

Yet, a few years ago a group of Portuguese researchers investigated the energy consumption of 𝟮𝟳 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲.

The results reveal trade-offs: faster code isn’t always more energy-efficient, and memory use strongly affects energy costs.

My letter to LinkedIn.

I've got to be honest: as a creator on LinkedIn, I’m pretty frustrated. 

Despite having over 261K followers, most of my posts reach only a tiny fraction, often just a few thousand. It really makes me wonder why having a large follower count matters if the algorithm won’t show my content to those followers anyway.

I understand there’s an algorithm trying to figure out who finds what interesting, but at some point, it feels like followers mean very little. And sure, engagement is important, but let’s be real, most people on LinkedIn aren’t hitting “like” or leaving comments in a natural way.

The platform ends up rewarding a small circle of people who engage artificially with each other’s posts, making the whole thing feel kind of fake. So, we can see mediocre posts bubble up in people's feeds.

Do you ever read comments about this network on Reddit, X, and other places? No one is speaking positively about it. It's more like FB today.

Also, many other social networks offer far better organic reach and actually let creators earn money. On LinkedIn, it’s still a struggle to monetize or even get your authentic voice heard amid a flood of AI-generated content (probably >50% now).

So here’s my message to LinkedIn: if you value authenticity and professional networking, please consider how these issues affect creators who are genuinely trying to share valuable insights. 

We need a platform that supports real voices and helps us reach the community we’ve built.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹

Most developers use these terms interchangeably. That's a mistake.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 is about structure. You design your program so that multiple tasks can progress simultaneously without waiting for one another to finish. A single CPU core can handle concurrent tasks by switching between them rapidly, running Task A, then Task B, then back to A. Only one task executes at any instant, but both advance.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺 is about execution. Multiple tasks run simultaneously on separate CPU cores. Task A runs on Core 1 while Task B runs on Core 2. Both execute at the exact moment.

Here's where it gets interesting: you can have one without the other.

We have four scenarios:

𝟭. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹. One core runs Task A from start to finish. Then it runs Task B, which is executed sequentially. No overlap.

𝟮. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹. Multiple cores divide Task A into chunks and process them simultaneously. Task B waits. Once A is completed, the cores proceed to B. This involves the parallel execution of a single task.

𝟯. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹. One core switches between Task A and Task B, interleaving their execution. The CPU might run A for 10 milliseconds, switch to B for 10 milliseconds, and then back to A. Both tasks progress, but only one runs at any instant.

𝟰. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗹. Multiple cores execute different tasks simultaneously. Core 1 handles Task A while Core 2 handles Task B. True simultaneous execution of multiple tasks.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀

Writing concurrent code doesn't guarantee parallel execution. Your program might run on a single core, switching between tasks. And that's fine, concurrency improves responsiveness even without parallelism.

Parallel execution requires concurrent design, but concurrency can also work without parallelism. A web server handles multiple requests concurrently on one core by switching between them. Add more cores, and those requests can run in parallel.

The goal differs, too. Concurrency maximizes CPU utilization by minimizing idle time. Parallelism boosts raw performance by distributing work across cores.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀?

🔹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. You split the dataset into batches and process each batch on a separate GPU core, using parallel execution.

🔹 𝗔 𝗡𝗼𝗱𝗲.𝗷𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿. Handles thousands of requests on a single thread by switching between them when waiting for I/O. Concurrent, not parallel. Scaling to multiple processes also introduces parallelism.

🔹 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 .𝗡𝗘𝗧. Spawns multiple threads for concurrent execution. Whether they run in parallel depends on the availability of cores.

LinkedIn prompt injection actually works

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝗳𝗸𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀?

If you're building distributed systems or working with real-time data, you need to understand Kafka. It's a streaming platform that handles millions of events per second without breaking.

Kafka moves data between applications using a distributed pub-sub model. Producers write messages to topics. Consumers read about those topics. Brokers store and serve the data.

Here's what happens under the hood when a message flows through Kafka:

𝟭. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

An application writes a message to a specific topic. The producer assigns the message to a partition based on a key or round-robin distribution. Messages are batched together before sending to maximize throughput.

𝟮. 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

The broker receives the message and writes it to disk immediately. This makes it durable. Each partition is replicated across multiple brokers, so if one broker fails, another takes over. The broker assigns an offset to each message, which acts as a unique identifier within the partition.

𝟯. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

Consumers poll the broker for new messages from their assigned partitions. In a consumer group, each consumer owns specific partitions. This prevents two consumers from processing the same message. The consumer tracks its position using offsets, so it can restart without losing its place.

𝟰. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲

Topics are split into partitions, which can be distributed across different brokers. This enables parallel processing. Multiple consumers can read from different partitions simultaneously. Need more capacity? Add more partitions and more consumers.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗞𝗮𝗳𝗸𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁?

Kafka writes everything to disk using sequential writes, which are faster than random memory access. It keeps messages for days or weeks instead of deleting after delivery. This lets consumers reprocess data or new consumers catch up from the beginning.

The system handles multiple producers and consumers independently. Each operates at its own pace without coordination. This is why Kafka can sustain millions of messages per second across distributed systems.

Most developers learn software architecture backwards.

They jump straight to microservices patterns before understanding why systems fail. They read about Kafka without knowing when a simple queue would work better. They try to copy Netflix's architecture for a team of five.

This roadmap fixes that. It's structured in three phases that actually make sense.

- Start small (4-6 weeks). Draw your current system. Learn the basics of styles and trade-offs. Study how pieces connect. You need this foundation before anything else matters.

- Build knowledge. Read the core books. Study papers from the teams that built Dynamo and Raft. Look at real architecture from AWS, Azure, and Google. Watch talks from people who've scaled systems past your current problems.

- Apply and lead. Learn the 12-Factor App. Study ADRs. Read about how Cloudflare, Netflix, and Uber built their systems. Understand security and reliability because an architecture that breaks doesn't matter.

The path isn't complicated. You don't need to read everything. You need to start with foundations, practice with real patterns, and learn from teams who've solved problems at scale.

4. AWS mitigated the DNS issue; recovery progressed while backlogs drained across services.

AutoGen: AssistantAgent becomes ChatAgent. Event-driven runtime becomes typed Workflows.

Microsoft is shifting focus here. Semantic Kernel and AutoGen stay supported, but new work goes into Agent Framework.

Teams buy tools they don't need. Developers learn frameworks they won't use.

If you're building AI products → you need both.
