'Jo Akela Khelta Hai Woh Team Ke Khilaaf Khelta Hai' This is one of our family favourite lines from the movie 'Fighter' One who plays alone, they play against the team. And it's a sentiment that is proven right in every sport, business, and life. If you can't build your community, your network, your friends, and your peer group, you'll be swimming in this ocean of solopreneurship, freelancing, etc. alone. Working in a team shows how far you can go. Working alone shows only how far you can. The difference: Only. LinkedIn gives you a platform to build your community, don't waste it. How are you building your community? Anything you would like to share? โ˜บ๏ธ PS: Happy Sunday ๐Ÿ’—

Don't let anyone overpower you. That's what one of my ex-managers had told me years ago. During my recruitment days, I used to interact with several hiring managers from different teams. Now each of them had their priorities and way of handling things. One of them was particularly intimidating. Not in the wrong sense but with their words and always nitpicking ways. My manager would observe how they came down heavy and knew that was their flaw but they were good at the work they did. All he told me was - don't let them intimidate you. They will point fingers and dig out things from the past processes, but that doesn't mean you get worried about it. You have to keep calm, maintain a stoic face, and listen to them without flinching. We will figure the rest out. Let your work speak for you. It was a silent lesson for me. But it stayed. Whenever I think someone is trying to put me down or point fingers, I simply listen and maintain a stoic face. No reaction but just my work speaking for me. These are corporate lessons I learnt the hard way and I know everyone has a couple of these managers who are hard to deal with. I can't say I understand all of them, but yes, sometimes we need to tweak the way we are approaching the problem rather than battling it. Have you ever faced a manager like this? What did you do?

It takes a village to raise a child. I was having a conversation today morning with my 15YO about her infant and toddler days. I told her how I had 5 people around me at all times to take care of her and help me in the initial 2 yrs. I went back to work when my kiddo was around 9 months old and then quit again because we had to shift to a different city. It took so many of us to raise her and she had a complete princess treatment by virtue of being the first grandchild of the entire Khaandaan. :) This conversation made me realise one thing - much like raising a child, it takes a village to build a business. โ†ณBuilding a team โ†ณOnboarding more clients โ†ณCompartmentalising the teams โ†ณAnd ultimately growing and scaling If not for the wonderful hands-on-deck, we won't be able to grow or nurture our kid well. Right? I understand not everyone has that liberty but somewhere I have always felt blessed to have so many people helping me in the initial years and then later when I started growing my business. ๐ŸฉทSo here's a note to freelancers turning first-time agency owners: โœ…It takes a village to raise your kid (business). Don't hold back on hiring the right people because that will ensure you are moving in the right direction. โœ“ What's your take on this? โœ“ Does it really take a village to raise a kid or not? Hit repost โ™ป๏ธif you think it's encouraging to share. PS: What's been your experience in raising a kid or building your business?

I love that LinkedIn is proactively removing followers. Dead, inactive and bot accounts. But dude why is it happening everyday ๐Ÿ˜ญ???? I keep fluctuating every day. I lost over 60 followers in 10 days because 'We are proactively removing dead accounts to make your feed cleaner' ๐Ÿ˜ญ It's not much but still it's like jab upar jaata hai count phir wapis wahin pe aajata hai ๐Ÿ˜‚ Thoughts? Is it happening with you as well?

My in-laws visited Kashmir 20 yrs ago. And they fell in love with the land. They couldn't stop saying how beautiful it was and they still can't. :'( My husband couldn't go then but that was always a trip I envisioned going on. My friend was in Kashmir last month and couldn't stop telling me that I should visit it at least once. It is pure jannat. So beautiful. I told her about my apprehension to travel to Kashmir and the underlying fear I had. Still she insisted. I never made any travel plans to go there. Maybe once I did roughly plan a road trip but the thought didn't last long. And today we hear about the horrific incidence that took place in Kashmir. It's been scary to see the videos and images emerging on the internet. So many lives lost. So many souls left seeking answers. And whose to blame? I did have a dream to see Kashmir. But now I am scared, like so many others I believe, to think of going to Kashmir. Religion has always divided us as a country. Whereas it could be the one thing that could unite us. No one should perish the tourists in Kashmir did. We stand in solidarity yet we see a division slowly tearing us apart.

My mom used to say 'When you become one you will know.' And the cherry on top - if you are a working mother, you won't know what hit you. I never really paid attention to that because as a young adult, who thinks about all this! You just tell your mom that you want something and it's done. Simple right? Wrong. Because even if mom tells you 'you will know when you become one' - no one prepares you for motherhood. Nothing and No one can. I have a pre-teen and a teenager at home. 2 drastically different personalities with reasoning that would beat Einstein. If one is happy with dal the other detests it. If one loves chocolates, the other one scoffs at it. If one comes and hugs me, the other one gets ticked off. But as mothers, we have one big superpower and believe me no one can replace that (not even AI) - ๐‘ด๐’–๐’๐’•๐’Š๐’•๐’‚๐’”๐’Œ๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ ๐’†๐’Ž๐’๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’๐’”. Phew! I will be kidding around with one kiddo about her school day and the next 5 mins I would end up handling another hyper-emotional kid who just had a bad day at school. It is like a rollercoaster. Much like the work I do. (or we do) One moment I am writing a LinkedIn post for a client and the next I am discussing the design changes on a website. One moment I am talking about the operational changes in a startup and the next I am discussing financial landscape of startups with another. It's like a constant 'switch on/off' situation. So if you look at a working mom and think she has it all together. Believe me she doesn't. I don't. We don't. And yes you won't know unless you become a mum. But we constantly keep trying to make every stage as smooth as possible. Believe me you won't regret having one on your team. To all my working moms and mompreneurs out there. You got it lady ๐Ÿฉท๐Ÿฉท PS: As a working mom, what's your biggest challenge? PPS: Does you kiddo ever pressurise you into doing something? ;)

I had just come down for the small mela in my society. As I walked towards the garden, met my daughters tuition teacher. She smiled and said, โ€œI have always admired you and the friendship you share with both your girls. The love and laughter is so wonderful. I told my friends I want to become like you when my kid arrives. I feel so happy when I look at you taking them out and joking around." I smiled and blushed. It was unexpected. It was heartwarming. I enquired how she was doing and her due date, and off we went. No magical spotlights. Just a look at my daughters... thinking - I must be doing something right. As a mompreneur, the challenge of balancing work, kids, moodswings, etc. is tremendous. It's real and it's high. But these moments of sudden conversations in-between reassure me to hold my fort and keep doing what I am. A simple conversation and a ton of smiles. Happiness is in the small gestures and conversations. And sometimes those small gestures change everything. PS: Like I always say, it's offline and online. That's three generations of strong-headed ladies in one frame. ๐Ÿฉท
