I am a Senior Mechanical Engineer with very broad and extensive experience in detailed design, project management and team leadership in upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas facility projects. I am the go-to person for unusual, one-off designs that others are often puzzled or stymied by. The unique selling point that sets me apart from other engineers is my ability to break down inter-discipline barriers and silos by managing the interfaces. That gray zone is my comfort zone. I frequently contribute to the global engineering discussion forum, Eng-Tips, on which I am a fellow Round Table Member and acknowledged as a Subject Matter Expert in hydraulics, piping design and the Canadian Pipeline Codes. I am also an accomplished dog trainer, handler and performer with a stunt dog show called The Canine Stars, who travel and perform in front of audiences around the world, and who appeared on the television program “America’s Got Talent” in 2021. Prior to performing with The Canine Stars, I performed with The Superdogs. Further, I have competed in the sport of Agility, winning one Alberta / NWT Regional Championship and placing on the awards podium at four Canadian National Championships and four National Steeplechase finals. My other interests and hobbies include high end audio equipment and billiards. I am also a limb reattachment success story. I had a freak accident in May 2021 when I fell out of the back of my truck retrieving an errant basketball, and my left arm exploded and fell off at the elbow, saved only by a flap of skin. My exact words at the time were, "Aww crap, that explains the push-up problem I'm having. Ain't gonna fix this one with duct tape.". Then I pushed as much bone and other stuff back into place as I could, put my ball in the truck, drove halfway to the town store, turned around and drove back to pick up my glasses, and then drove all the way and asked a guy pumping gas if he'd be so kind as to summon an ambulance. The people told me it was OK to cry, but crying isn't my style, so I just sat on the store steps waiting for the ambulance, sipping water and singing, "It's my elbow and I'll cry if I want to.". Fortunately, after a high speed ambulance ride, an eight hour surgery involving five surgeons, the installation and subsequent removal of an assortment of hardware, and over a year of physiotherapy, I have recovered full use and most of the strength in that arm. I view that as a testament to my resilience and determination. I don’t give up easily.
