Senior Associate, Business Development and Strategic Product Partnerships

I work in Business Development for LinkedIn. What does that mean? Well, I spend my days doing one of three things:

1.) Working with our legal team to execute and negotiate deals with companies in LinkedIn's ecosystem
2.) Working with engineering and product teams to build partnerships and technical integrations with those companies
3.) Connecting with internal stakeholders in product, engineering, marketing, and sales to drive the activation of these partnerships

I honestly love my job. I get to speak to startup founders and big tech co execs. I get to help shape the strategy for our business and our products. And most importantly, I get to meet people that will be in my personal and professional network for the rest of my life.

The skills I'm developing will last a lifetime. The relationships I'm developing will shape my life.

Associate, Business Development and Strategic Product Partnerships

I cold-called literally 50-100 people every day in this role. I was shocked that this practice still existed in a large tech company. But it taught me resilience, persistence, and how to connect with literally anyone in 30 seconds. I'm appreciative of this opportunity to get me started in my career and learn how to be a professional.

Sales Development

Someone who had done this program before me described it as "adult summer camp". Could not agree more. The BLP program was wonderful. It was the entry into big tech that I needed. It has completely changed my personal and professional life. The people I met in the program have become some of my best friends. 

For work, they threw us right into the fire. We spent 3 months on our customer service team learning how to support angry people paying tons of money for LinkedIn products. It helped me understand how we make money, why customers buy our products, and why they do not. I struggled a lot in this role. I think it was because I didn't focus enough on onboarding, and was excited about my "next play". This was a good lesson for me; you have to succeed in the role you're in before looking for the next one. 

We then went into recruiting. I was on our Data Science recruiting team. I had no idea what I was talking about but learned how to sell candidates on LinkedIn. I learned that sometimes our hiring practices favour prestige (big company, great school, etc) which made me passionate about supporting those from underrepresented backgrounds. 

Along with these two official "rotations", I built a lot of great relationships with folks that have become my mentors. I helped to sell our learning product (LinkedIn Learning) to my alma mater. I got to work on a proposal to sell LinkedIn to the Canadian government. And I started working on side projects on the Business Development team, which led to a full-time role about a year later. 

I learned it takes a lot of patience to get what you want. I learned that building authentic relationships with professionals is key. I learned that people want to help if you ask for it.

Overall BLP was an amazing experience. I learned a ton and would recommend anyone else to do the same to get their feet wet within the tech industry, specifically for new grads.

AMS of UBC Vancouver

•	 Collaborated with Entrepreneurship @ UBC, the university incubator, to create the first student-run entrepreneurship hub predominantly for undergraduate students
•	Received $20,000 of funding approved by AMS council to operate the first ever incubator in the student society
•	Collaborated with 11 groups on and off campus to help spur entrepreneurial culture by hosting workshops, planning events, creating a cohort system to support ventures with resources, talent, and capital

•	Raised $9800 for operational expenses for the Foodbank, exceeding the target goal by $7800
•	Managed a team of 13 volunteers to increase to manage the 240% increase in client usage of the Foodbank
•	Facilitated workshops and presented to leads of faculties, organizations, and national television broadcasters (CBC, CTV, and more) by analyzing and identifying trends on food insecurity

I have also driven 20+ partnerships with leading companies and governments, such as Clear, DigiLocker, and Hyperverge, to enhance the user experience and the network effect of the verification project . 

At Casper, I have leveraged my expertise in AI and product development to create a popular chrome extension that assists users in content creation and summarization, attracting over 20,000 users in less than six months. I have also generated $x00,000s of revenue by offering tailored strategy consulting, product development, and design services to other businesses that want to integrate and leverage AI.

I am passionate about making products accessible, efficient, and user-friendly, and empowering people and businesses to unlock their full potential through technology. I have a strong background in trust, verification, and HR tech, and a keen interest in entrepreneurship and innovation.
