Something that Yousuf Aslam taught me a few years back that has helped in many ways since.

“This Too Shall Shift” There was a summer when everything seemed to align. Work was smooth, friends were close, and laughter came easy. Even the coffee tasted better. I remember thinking: Maybe this is it. Maybe I’ve cracked the code. But as quietly as it came, that season began to slip. A few small problems turned into larger ones. People drifted. The light changed. And I found myself holding on, hoping to stretch the joy just a little longer — like trying to trap sunlight in a jar. Then came a winter — not literal, but emotional. Plans failed. Doubts returned. The spark I had months ago felt like a stranger. And in the middle of it, I stumbled across this idea: “Everything is temporary. That’s the bad news — and the good news.” It hit me. The good days weren’t a guarantee, but neither were the bad ones. Nothing was permanent, not even the discomfort. Everything moved — like tides, like seasons, like breath. So now, I try to live by that. When life is soft and sweet, I savor it without clinging. When life is rough and unkind, I endure it without panic. Because the truth is: joy is fleeting. But so is pain. And sometimes, remembering that is enough.

Over the next 2 weeks, I’m bouncing between NYC, Tampa and Miami — hosting mixers, joining panels, and meeting some of the most interesting founders and advisors in the Connectd community. If you’re local (or just fancy a good excuse to leave your inbox behind), here’s where I’ll be: NYC Mixer – June 2 A great chance to meet top founders and fractional talent part of our NYC network. Tampa Mixer – June 9 Tampa’s lowkey full of operators. If you’re building something big and want to find collaborators who get it, come through. Miami Panel – June 11 I’ll be at the event where Roei Samuel’s sharing the real story on fractional leadership, this is where the startup world’s heading. Here’s the plan: 💬 Come say hey if you’re around 📩 DM me if you’re coming (I’ll intro you to some great people) P.S. Link to sign up is in the comments!
Why hire one exec for your business when you can access three decades of experience...fractionally? Join us in Miami on June 11, 6PM EDT at CitizenM Miami Worldcenter, where we’ll explore how fractional leadership is reshaping early-stage growth. You’ll hear from Roei Samuel, Connectd’s Founder & CEO, on why more companies are choosing seasoned, flexible executive talent over full-time overhead. Seats are limited, so grab yours here:
We’re not just witnessing the rise of fractional work, we’re helping shape it. Proud to be part of the Connectd journey as we build the infrastructure for what work looks like next.
“It used to be Cloud First. Now it’s AI or Die.” That line stuck with me from last week’s Connectd x Dell Technologies event. It captured something I think a lot of people in the room were feeling but hadn’t yet said out loud: that you can’t afford to ignore what’s happening with AI. And if you’re building something new, you’ve got an edge. You’re not wrestling with legacy systems or complex migrations. You can just start with what works now. I found the whole session surprisingly hopeful. There was no pressure to become an expert overnight. Just a reminder to stay open, ask questions, and begin somewhere. For me, that’s often where the best cultural shifts happen too. I’ve been thinking about how AI could support the people side of what we do. Not replace it, but support it. Like taking care of the heavy-lift onboarding admin, so we can spend more time actually getting to know people. Or helping team members prepare for coaching conversations ahead of time, So the time we do spend together lands better. Not efficiency for efficiency’s sake, but freeing up time for the things that build trust, not just systems. As Head of People, my job is to make sure people can show up as themselves. That’s how it’s been for me at Connectd. And that’s the kind of environment I want to protect as we grow. But culture doesn’t stay strong by accident. You have to keep choosing it. Especially when new tools come into play. For founders, especially early ones, my one piece of advice would be: You don’t need to know everything about AI. But you do need to know what kind of culture you want to build alongside it. Because you’re not just choosing your tech stack. You’re choosing how people will work together inside it.
