The Evolution of SAP User Experience in one picture. 📉📈🚀

When I look at my projects over the last few years, I see companies in exactly three phases. And the gap between them is massive.

Let's look at the journey (see graphic):

1️⃣ YESTERDAY: The Era of Experts (SAP GUI) We all know them: The grey screens. If you wanted to work here, you had to learn transaction codes like vocabulary. VA01, ME21N, PA30. The system was powerful, but it demanded a lot from the user. High manual effort, zero mobility, purely function-oriented.

2️⃣ TODAY: The Standard for Modernity (SAP Fiori) This is where I currently operate with most of my clients. The shift from transactions to roles. The goal is no longer "enter data," but "get the job done." Fiori brings the SAP world to the smartphone and makes it intuitive. But let's be honest: Many companies are still in the middle of the transformation just to get their processes "Fiori-ready."

3️⃣ TOMORROW: The Paradigm Shift (SAP Joule & AI) The next stage is already knocking at the door. With SAP Joule, we are moving away from "clicking" towards "interacting." We no longer fill out filter masks. We ask: "Joule, show me all critical supply bottlenecks." The UI becomes invisible, proactive, and intelligent.

💡 My Take as a UX Designer: Many fear that AI will make the interface obsolete. I see it differently. For AI (Tomorrow) to work, processes and data (Today) must be structured cleanly.

Those who are still stuck in "Yesterday" (GUI chaos) will hardly manage the leap into "Tomorrow" (AI). The path inevitably leads through a clean UX strategy and Fiori.
