In 2012, at 18 years old, I joined the army as a soldier who worked with explosives. Later, I drove armored vehicles on missions. After three and a half years, things got tough. I got injured and started doubting myself, especially after my first missions. It felt like I needed a change, and life seemed to agree. 🚑 I needed to find a new direction that would make me happy. A year later, I took a big step by traveling to Ethiopia to start a business. This trip brought me two things: a setback in my career, and a personal victory. 🌍 My business didn’t succeed, but it led me to create my first marketing campaigns. I loved researching, experimenting, and feeling excited when things started to work. 💡 After a year in Ethiopia, I moved to Dédougou, Burkina Faso, for two years. I continued with marketing and learned how culture affects my work, which made me change my strategies. 🌍 However, because of rising tensions in the area, my time there ended after just one year. Next, I challenged myself to learn English. I took a road trip to New Zealand, which was a fantastic personal adventure. I ended up working as a fishmonger in a market and realized that sales and marketing are quite similar. While in New Zealand, I tried to start a project called Trwime to help travelers connect, funded by crowdfunding. Sadly, it didn’t work out. But I learned about Product-Market Fit (PMF) and how important community is for projects. Then I moved to Vietnam for two years, where I launched growth campaigns for a high-end clothing brand that sold both locally and internationally. I also began freelancing for startups. Later, I joined a Belgian startup, which brought me back to Europe to further develop my skills. After nearly two years, I became a Growth Marketer for B2B tech startups. I love the daily challenges in this field, where I can be creative with new strategies. 🎯 I also write a newsletter called ‘Le B.a-ba du Growth’ to share my experiences in growth marketing. Right now, I’m on a mission with lemlist to reach new heights!
