I'm currently pursuing a Master's in Journalism from UC Berkeley (2023-2025). In my past life, I have worked as a freelance journalist based in Kolkata, India, covering topics at the nexus of several fields, including climate change, public health, and gender. In my stories, I investigate the dynamics of political power and its effects on the individuals who are most immediately impacted. My reporting has brought me to a variety of locations within the state of West Bengal in India, ranging from the mangroves of Sundarbans to the villages of South Bengal that are ravaged by silicosis. I have produced in-depth stories, profiles, and investigations into the numerous ways in which the political power structures affect the most disadvantaged members of our society, including the gig workers, the tiger widows, the COVID widows, the ASHA workers, and a number of other people. When I report and write, I do it via the perspectives of both my rural background and my urban life. As an outsider looking in, I provide a unique viewpoint on issues in society, politics, and culture.
