OpenAI literally just leaked what people use ChatGPT for.
We’ve been sold this vision: AI will replace doctors, lawyers, CEOs.
But the data tells a different story.

Across 1.1 million conversations, here’s where humans really lean on ChatGPT:

• 28% for writing (editing, critiquing, summarizing)
• 28% for practical guidance (teaching, advice, self-care)
• 21% for seeking info
• Only ~7% for hardcore technical help (programming, data analysis, math)
• Just 6% for flashy stuff like images and multimedia.

The truth? We’re not using AI to build the future.
We’re using it to get unstuck in the present.

Think about it.

People don’t log into ChatGPT dreaming of AGI.
They log in because:

They need help writing an email.
They’re stuck on a school assignment.
They want to sound smarter in a report.
They need advice about life, health, or relationships.

It’s not about superintelligence.
It’s about super-assistance.

And here’s the controversial part: maybe that’s not a bad thing.
Because AI isn’t replacing us.
It’s reflecting us.

Every revolution starts this way.
- The industrial revolution wasn’t about building rockets on day one, it was about making cloth cheaper.
- The internet didn’t start with billion-dollar apps, it started with simple communication.

AI right now? It’s doing for our words and thoughts what machines once did for our muscles.

Here’s my personal takeaway:
Most people don’t need ChatGPT to code.
They need it to cope. With the everyday cognitive load of modern life.

Not that AI will think for us, but that it will finally give us space to think like ourselves.

So before you laugh at someone using AI for homework help or email drafts…
Remember: that’s exactly how revolutions always look in the beginning; ordinary, invisible, underestimated.

Prompting has levels. Most people never leave the kiddie pool.
Quick asks. Generic outputs. Copy–paste answers.

But here’s the truth: if you stop at the surface, you’ll only ever get surface-level results.

Level 1: Surface Prompts

- Zero-shot → Just ask, hope for the best
- One-shot → Add one example, get slightly better
- Few-shot → Add a few examples, see some improvement
- Simple tasks → Summarize, rewrite, brainstorm, explain like I’m 5

⚠️ Fast, but shallow. You get generic answers, not expert work.

Level 2: Real Work Zone

- Assign a role (tell the AI who to be)
- Define tone, style, and task clearly
- Add stop conditions, limits, and context
- Use temporary chats, manage memory, set output format
- Show examples of good outputs

✅ This is where quality jumps. The answers get focused, practical, and useful.

Level 3: Where the Magic Happens

- Choose the right model
- Tell the AI how to think (reasoning instructions, chain-of-thought)
- Use iteration loops → feedback, revision, final polish
- Problem-solve: focus on the 20% that drives 80% of results
- Combine role, context, examples, and iteration for expert-level work

The rule is simple: the deeper you go, the better your results.

#1 Don’t just type. Talk.
