My dedication to “putting people first” started with putting myself first. My journey began with a turbulent childhood and rocky start to adolescence, to say the least. I found myself in a tough spot, eventually flunking out of school and battling drug addiction and homelessness as an adult. One day, while I was looking for work, I walked into a restaurant, one of the few places I could work without experience or a degree. And that's when two very important things happened. First, I embraced the positive side of my situation and worked hard to become a chef, which became a personal passion. Second, it was glaringly obvious that this industry and many others were not paying living wages. I immediately recognized an opportunity to make an impact that would not only alter my life, but it could leave a lasting mark on the lives of millions. With this mission in mind, I decided to start a Nonprofit with an individualized approach to advocacy. At HR-4U INC, we are known for empowering change-driven companies and their leaders to advocate for and uplift their employees with living wages, worth, and wellbeing. Using a specialized grassroots approach, we empower change-driven leaders to stand up, speak out, and take action. This approach includes strategically collaborating with other nonprofits to shine a light on leaders who prioritize people first. This collaborative spirit stems from over 30 years honing my “people-first” passion and experience in Human Resources and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. For three consecutive years, HR-4U has earned the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid for our determined efforts and dedication.
