I read this post on Reddit recently. I wish I could find the analyst that wrote it and sit them down and have a chat with them. I'd tell them that they're absolutely correct hahaha. 

All jokes aside, I imagine a lot of data professionals feel this way. Sometimes it does feel like we're "note takers for decisions that were never up for debate". This is why, now more than ever, data folks need to think bigger than just data warehouses and SQL. 

Analysts and Data Scientists need to immerse themselves in the company's goals and missions. They need to collaborate with, not isolate from, their stakeholders. We need to empathise with their painpoints and understand their challenges. Trust is, in my opinion, the only way to break this cycle.
