How did she arrive at this profound statement? Through soul searching and extensive journaling, she finally came to the realization that, "my life is mine?" or is it? 
 
My life may not conform to my parents' expectations. 
 
My life may not be the picture I had painted in my childhood fantasies. 
 
Indeed, my life is not a fantasy. 
 
I challenge you to question yourself today: 
 
Is your life truly yours? 
 
If the answer is no, I urge you to reflect and jot down: 
 
1. What limiting beliefs are holding you back? 
2. Where did these beliefs originate? 
3. Do any of these limiting beliefs stem from parents, colleagues, or media representations? 
 
Remember, language holds POWER. 
 
The way we speak with ourselves influences our minds and bodies.

Embracing Courageous Leadership: Lessons from Mindy Kaling and Adam Grant

Today, I had the privilege of listening to two inspiring speakers, Mindy Kaling and Adam Grant, who shared invaluable insights on courageous leadership and embracing change.  #uplift2024

Mindy Kaling challenged us to unlearn the teachings of our elders that encouraged assimilation and silence, urging us instead to speak out and embrace our authentic selves. She emphasized the importance of courageous leadership, where we dare to challenge the status quo and pave the way for positive change.

Adam Grant echoed this sentiment by highlighting the significance of showing the younger generation that we value their ideas and opinions, even if they may not always be right or successful. He encouraged us to create an environment where individuals feel empowered to voice their thoughts and contribute to meaningful discussions.

#1 advice: “Do the best you can until you know better. Once you know better, do better.” This powerful mantra reminds us that growth and improvement come from continuous learning and adaptation. It’s a call to action to strive for excellence while remaining open to new perspectives and experiences.

Let’s commit to doing better, challenging the norms, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

Twenty-five years ago, I held a newborn, my second born, in my arms. Today, he turns 25, a confident young man.  
 
He battled constant ear infections until tubes were inserted, transforming him into a boisterous child always on the go.  
 
At 8 years old, he embraced competitive soccer, an adventure that brought along strict routines and demanding days. But oh, how worth it they were! 
 
His routine was equal parts energy draining and rewarding - transforming a young boy i into one of the most respectful and kind-hearted souls I know.  
 
What I taught: 
 
1. Be respectful. 
2. Cherish your family. 
3. Show up.  
4. Make time. 
5. Ask questions. 
 
As a parent, I am often sought after for parental advice. My first question: 
 
"Are you modeling the behavior you'd want your children to emulate?" 
 
Because you are their first teacher. 
 
It's not easy, it's a mental shift. Your actions are their lessons, the guidelines for their life path. Cheers!

As someone who typically achieves at a high level, I have a tendency to fill my schedule to the max. And by "fill," I mean: 
 
- Appointments 
- Coaching sessions 
- Business calls 
- Meetings 
- Workouts 
- Dinners 
 
Continuing with this pace for an extended period often results in burnout, leaving me tired and at times, even unwell.  
 
I've noticed this pattern and have had to re-evaluate what works better for me. 
 
This usually involves making time for: 
 
- Sauna sessions and breathwork 
- 3-minute meditations 
- Scheduled acupuncture appointments 
- Outdoor breaks to breathe in fresh air 
- Visits to a plant shop during lunch 
 
By ensuring I stay grounded throughout the day, I maintain my energy levels.
