By serendipity, I found myself in a negotiation workshop led by Roger Fisher, a moment that pivoted my decade-long entrepreneurial journey towards a calling in negotiation I hadn't realized was mine. This field, I discovered, isn’t just a profession but a lifestyle offering clarity, confidence, and fulfillment. It’s been my mission to reveal negotiation’s potential beyond mere victory, exploring its power to unlock unforeseen possibilities. Over thirty years, I've traversed the globe as a negotiation consultant and professor, engaging with varied organizations and sharing insights at renowned institutions like the Kellogg School of Management and McGill University. My experiences teaching at Columbia University’s ICCCR and participating on the Advisory Board of Kellogg University’s Innovation Network have profoundly shaped my understanding, reminding me that we’re all lifelong learners. Holding degrees from Columbia University, DePauw University, and an EMBA from Kellogg, and being trilingual in Spanish, English, and French, has enriched my global perspective. At Negotiation by Design®, we guide organizations through the complex art of negotiation, focusing on building an Institutional Negotiation Capacity to embed negotiation into the organizational DNA, fostering a shared culture of language, learning, and strategic advantage. My personal life, filled with lessons from parenting my children, Mateo and Anabel, mountain biking mishaps, and culinary adventures, has grounded me in humility and humanity, reminding me that life’s richest lessons often come from its most unscripted moments. This journey of mine is a tapestry of unexpected discoveries, growth, and modesty, deeply interwoven with a passion for negotiation, the joys of family life, and the occasional kitchen blunder.
