I started posting on Instagram at 15, and in just a few months, I reached the 10,000 followers mark.

Thrilled by the platform's potential, I began monetizing my reach by selling e-books.

I quickly realized my true fascination was at the intersection of people and technology.
Creativity + AI = the superpower of the future!

This realization led me to pursue a Bachelor's in Business Informatics and a Master's in Machine Learning.

I co-founded notus, where we helped our clients achieve their growth targets through organic content.

In November 2023, I stepped away from notus, as my tech-driven heart craves for a new adventure: building a SaaS product, Scripe.

We ended up in front of the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg at 8am after 15 hours of travelling. 😬

After our trip to New York, we were eager to dive back into work.

We just returned home, super exhausted, until we found out that a letter from the Amtsgericht Charlottenburg awaited us.

It was about our company registration, a process we thought would be straightforward.

Instead, it turned into a months-long struggle.

We faced endless paperwork and unexpected delays.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩? 💸

Having to physically go to the office and pay fees in cash because of technical issues.

We were like, wtf?! 

In places like New York, it takes a maximum of 7 days to set up a company.

In Germany, even with all documents ready, it now took us 2.5 months.

The delays weren't just annoying.

They also held us back from launching our product and moving forward.

The experience was a reality check.

It showed us that underestimating German bureaucracy can be a major problem for start-ups. 🫠

And I'm actually glad we learned that now - at a stage where it was still 'ok' to be a month slower.

But I wish I could have skipped this lesson in patience and persistence. Haha 😬

So now I can understand why everyone says that starting a business in Germany is the worst in terms of burocracy.

.. and I am glad that there are Startup like RAKETENSTART who are really working on a solution to help startups with all this struggles.

This is why we chose not to fundraise right now. 💸

Last week, I recorded a podcast with Eva Kuttichová from Macromo about founder struggles.

During the recording, she shared her regret over not fundraising in 2021, a year when securing funds would have been significantly easier. 

This made me pause and reflect on our own strategy at Scripe.

After various back and forths, we decided to bootstrap for now. 

But talking to Eva made me ask myself: 

- Should we reconsider our stance on fundraising?
- Can we ensure sustainable growth without external funds?

After another deep discussion with Carmen Jenny  & Christoph Meise  I definitely believe in our strategy more than ever:

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆:

Fundraising consumes a lot of time. ⌛

Time that we can now instead invest in:

- Building our product, making sure it meets our users' needs.
- Gaining financial discipline, which makes us agile and ready to pivot.
- Growing customer-centric, aligning our strategies with what our customers truly want.
- Going for strategic funding, on our terms, from a position of strength.

Choosing not to fundraise at the moment is a path filled with hurdles, self-doubt, and concerns.

But it's also a path of milestones and independence. It means slower growth, but it keeps us aligned with our vision and in control of our direction.

I hired over 15 people in the last 2 years. 

These were my 3 biggest mistakes:

𝟭) 𝗜 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁

When I first started my first business, I rushed to hire because the workload was overwhelming. This led me to choose the wrong person, wasting time and disrupting our team dynamic

Now I focus on building relationships early on, even when we're not actively recruiting. That way, when the time comes, I already have potential candidates in mind.

𝟮) 𝗜 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀

Not every skilled person fits every role. Some people thrive on clear instructions, while others need freedom to explore. Understanding this has changed the way I assign roles, ensuring everyone is where they feel most confident and productive.

𝟯) 𝗜 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀

I did this when they didn't fit the original one. This made us slower and cost us more. It's tough, but necessary to let people go if they can't fill the required role.

These were costly mistakes. But they have shaped me and now help me to better approach recruitment and role allocation at Scripe.

We built an entire SaaS product with one software engineer.

Here's our secret sauce 🤫: 

Last week, someone was shocked to hear that our team at Scripe only consists out of three members.

They had seen our product and couldn't believe that such a small team was behind its development.

This moment made me realize our unique strength:

𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁-𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸-𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿.

Each step costs time and money.

At Scripe, it's just me as the product owner and Christoph Meise.

He's a powerhouse, combining the other three roles into one.

𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀:

1) I dive deep into user feedback sessions and data analysis.
2) Armed with insights, I brainstorm with Christoph, who immediately designs and plans.
3) Christoph then transforms these prototypes into fully functional features.
4) I test it with users, gather feedback, and we refine.

This workflow eliminates unnecessary communication paths, making us incredibly fast and efficient.

The only challenge ahead will be to find someone who can jump right in to help Christoph with minimal onboarding and share our passion of building amazing products.

Last week, I held a Masterclass with the amazing people at Expertenportal. The perfect audience to share my insights on optimizing personal branding strategies for LinkedIn.

My goal was to help experts to position themselves as the go-to expert in their field without wasting too much time on content creation. ⌛

Here‘s the biggest takeaway from the class, the content strategy:

𝟭. 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀:

Define what you want to achieve with your LinkedIn presence. More consulting inquiries? Speaking invitations? Get specific and measurable. This way, you can do a monthly check-in to see if you're on the right track or if you need to change your strategy.

𝟮. 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:

Think about who you're speaking to. Tailor your profile and content to meet their needs and interests. Then, consider questions your audience might have and address them in a video.

𝟯. 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁:

Use tools like Scripe to turn your video or podcast episodes into compelling LinkedIn posts. By uploading your long-form content to Scripe, you get post ideas within minutes.

This strategy allows experts to build organic reach while focusing on their area of expertise. Because this way requires minimal time, ensuring their most valuable resource (⌛) is well-spent.

I was not authentic at all when I started building my personal brand ❌

𝗔𝘁 𝟭𝟱, 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 – posting about travel, fitness and food.

Classic. ;)

Yet, it was a crazy journey and I quickly saw the impact I could have.

But I realized I wasn't showing my true authentic self after some time. 

That's why I 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝟭𝟴.

Instead, I started to study computer science and machine learning.

But deep down, my passion for personal branding never left me. 🫶

𝗔𝘁 𝟮𝟬, 𝗜 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 to help others grow on Instagram and later on LinkedIn.

I could channel my passion into empowering others to tell their stories authentically.

But - I still didn't feel fulfilled.

I aimed to create a bigger impact. 

And I wanted to help not just those who could afford it, but everyone with a story to tell.

So that's how the Scripe journey began.

𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝟮𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱.

And I finally feel like I can share authentically what I believe in – while helping others to do so too.

Because at Scripe, we're on a mission to democratize personal branding. 

We want to show that selling yourself doesn't mean losing yourself. It's about authenticity, the purest form of connection. 

And seriously, I CANNOT WAIT that we will be (soft) launching soon.
