After helping Xebia with various marketing needs across the organization and coordinating with the leadership of the business unit of Xebia Functional, I am managing the Center Of Excellence of Creativity and Design, where I am focused on driving excellence, innovation, and best practices in creative and design-related areas. 

The primary goal of a CoE for Creativity and Design is to elevate the quality of creative outputs, foster innovation, and ensure consistent brand representation across all touchpoints.

After 12 years of continuous growth with 47 Degrees, where we turned out a four-people company into more than 100 peeps, and with a yearly revenue of >$15M, we decided to move forward to the next level and join efforts with the global IT company Xebia. 

We joined forces, drawn to their shared values and vision for the future. We sought a partner with a culture match, a plan for creating future impact, and a commitment to unlocking new opportunities for team growth. As part of Xebia, we rebranded as Xebia Functional, a brand of software development that leverages the benefits of functional programming to deliver scalable, safe, and efficient solutions to their clients.

I am still co-leading the company with my partners in coordination with other global responsibilities in Xebia.

On top of managing Xebia Functional as part of the board, I am helping the global structure of Xebia to build a solid brand in the USA. 

My focus is on unblocking the possibilities for growth by aligning the marketing strategies across different service lines. With a deep understanding of the various services, I work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and create impactful campaigns that drive revenue growth.

My approach is rooted in data-driven insights that enable me to develop and execute effective marketing strategies. I believe that by breaking down silos and fostering collaboration, we can create a unified marketing approach that leverages the strengths of each service line.

In 2002, I founded a software studio, and while three years, I worked in backend and frontend, mainly in PHP. We developed several solutions in Codeigniter, WordPress, and e-commerce frameworks like Magento.

During this incredible part of my life, I could learn many different skills, starting the studio from scratch (working as a Freelance) until handling a project with devs and designers. I was the interface with the client and the project manager. I was a Switzerland knife forced by the company's size that grew up around me.

In 2010, I closed Enter Web Design to create 47 Degrees, the project of my life.

While working in this advertisement agency, I worked with a team that implemented projects and websites with millions of users, such as Cadiz.es and Cadizcf.com. 

It was my first experience with high complexity projects implemented in Java, CVS, and JS.

While I was coursing an Engineering Degree, I started to work in the University as an intern in the IT department. In that year, I helped implement a platform that got all the information of the University news database, synchronized with a local database, and served with an interface of that news in screens distributed through the Universities of Cádiz.

It was an incredible experience, and it was my started point with PHP, .Net, and Mysql.

I co-founded with my friends Justin, Nick, and Raúl, a consulting firm called 47 Degrees. After 12 years of continuous growth, where we turned out a four-person company into more than 100, and with a yearly revenue of >$15M (EBITDA ~30%), we decided to move forward to the next level and join efforts with the global IT company Xebia.

On top of co-managing Xebia Functional as part of the board, I am helping the global structure of Marketing of Xebia to build a solid Design and Creativity department supplying word-wide needs with an international team

No, Luis is not joining the Cádiz Fútbol team 😂; instead, he's taking the helm at Lambda World, one of the premier (and friendliest ❤️) Functional Programming conferences.

Luis and the team at Yay-Yay Events are the perfect choice to carry on our tradition. They share our commitment to preserving the unique essence of our event while supporting the Functional Programming community.

📢 HUGE NEWS for the FUNCTIONAL PROGRAMMING community! 🔔 

I'm delighted to announce that, after reaching an agreement with the Xebia team, and with the invaluable assistance of Jorge Galindo, and over a hearty potaje de berzas, the team at Yay-Yay Events, creators of J On The Beach and Wey Wey Web in Málaga, will organize the upcoming editions of what has always been, for me, the epitome of a supreme technical community event: Lambda World.

The dates will be from October 2nd to 4th, 2024, and the venue will be the Congress Palace of Cadiz.

This is a significant challenge for us, as it will be quite demanding to maintain the standard of an event for such a committed and close-knit community as functional programming enthusiasts.

I want to express my gratitude for the trust placed in us by the Xebia team, and especially to Jorge Galindo, Maureen Elsberry, and Benjy Montoya for the support they will provide to ensure that the essence of Lambda endures.
