Someone had asked ChatGPT what the secret to living to 140 might be.
And the answer had nothing to do with diet, money, or genetics.




It was about emotional wisdom. Yes...wisdom.

Drawing from “blue zone” research, the AI didn’t talk about supplements — it talked about six deeply human principles. And it got me thinking: these aren’t just longevity lessons.

➤ They’re leadership lessons.

Here’s my take through a coaching lens:

✅ Manage stress like your life depends on it. Because it does. 
 ↳ Most leaders don’t burn out from work — they burn out from emotional overload they never learned to regulate.

✅ Live for now, not “for later.” 
 ↳ The high achiever’s trap is living perpetually in the next milestone. Fulfillment only happens in the present tense.

✅ Do only what doesn’t create inner resistance. 
 ↳ That tightness in your chest isn’t procrastination — it’s misalignment. Pay attention to what your body knows before your brain rationalizes.

✅ Nurture real connections, not digital ones. 
 ↳ You can have 10k followers and still feel profoundly alone. Community is a biological need, not a networking metric.

✅ Find your ikigai — your reason to wake up. 
 ↳ Without purpose, performance becomes survival.

✅ Have someone with whom you can be fully yourself. 
 ↳ Authenticity is the ultimate longevity hack -- and the ultimate leadership one too.

Maybe living longer isn’t the point.
Maybe living more fully is.

• Klarna’s - Sebastian Siemiatkowski has an AI hotline speaking in his voice.
• Zoom’s - Eric S. Yuan sends his digital twin to meetings.
• SHRM's Alex Alonso, PhD, created a chatbot for his CEO to test new ideas.
• Salomon’s - Guillaume Meyzenq built an AI version of himself to greet employees worldwide.

It's not entirely new, and it’s often efficient and definitely impressive.

But is it effective?

When everything is “personalized,” nothing feels personal. We’re not craving more of our leaders — we’re craving more from them.

Empathy doesn’t scale. 
Authenticity doesn’t automate.

If you’re reading this and thinking about “scaling yourself,” try this instead:
1️⃣ Scale access ➤ not authenticity.
2️⃣ Use AI to inform ➤ not impersonate.

I just finished Oz Pearlman’s new book, "Read Your Mind"(Penguin Random House), and let me tell you — it’s not a book about tricks.





It’s a masterclass in human behavior, influence, and the psychology of connection. Maybe that's why Katie Couric, Adam Grant, and Mark Cuban are all fans.

And as someone who coaches leaders around the world, I couldn’t help but read it through the lens of leadership.

Because what Oz does on stage isn’t magic — it’s mastery of attention, emotion, memory, and trust. The same ingredients every leader needs… but very few intentionally practice.

Here are the 4 biggest leadership takeaways that hit me hardest:

1️⃣  "People don’t hear your words — they feel your presence."

↳ Oz reminds us that humans take mental shortcuts. They read tone, posture, confidence, and micro-expressions. Leaders often obsess over what to say. Oz shows us that people respond to how you show up.

GenAI won't kill critical thinking. Comfortable leaders will.



AMLE 's "Critical Thinking in the Age of Generative AI," a 2025 systematic review, and Microsoft's survey all point to the same tension ➤ AI can sharpen your thinking—or slowly dull it.

Here are 9 ways to stay sharp:

1️⃣ "Treat AI as a first draft, never a final say"
 ↳ GenAI's confident tone tricks your brain into skipping evaluation.
✅ Act on it:
Ban "copy–paste" from AI into decision-critical docs. Require one human edit plus rationale before anything AI-generated moves upward.

2️⃣ "Ask AI to argue against itself"
 ↳ Questioning and comparison strengthen critical thinking.
✅ Act on it:
Always follow one answer with: "Now, give me the strongest counterargument."
Share that practice with your team as a standard operating rule.

3️⃣ "Separate speed from wisdom"
 ↳ Fast answers feel good; wise answers feel uncomfortable first.
✅ Act on it:
For decisions that feel "too easy" after AI, pause and ask: "What are we not seeing?" Use AI to surface opposing viewpoints and edge cases—not just best practices.

4️⃣ "Build 'social critical thinking,' not just solo analysis"
 ↳ Challenge assumptions together.
✅ Act on it:
In key meetings, assign one person "AI skeptic" and another "AI translator."
End with: "What assumptions are we accepting because AI made them sound reasonable?"

For each, design one review step that reintroduces human judgment.

Replace "What should we do?" with "Given A, B, C constraints, what are 3 non-obvious options?" Evaluate question quality in team retros, not just answer quality.

AI can’t fix a weak culture. It just quantifies it.



AI in HR is growing across performance analytics and workforce planning.

Done well, it can up‑level fairness, insight, and strategic decisions.

Done poorly, it just puts a dashboard over long‑standing cultural problems:
↳ Biased decisions dressed up as “data‑driven.”
↳ Surveillance is sold as “productivity.”
↳ Burnout is labeled as “high performance.”

When coaching CHROs and People leaders, the work is to align AI with the culture you actually want:

✅ Define your people principles first, tools second:
“What must be true about how we treat people here?”

Your resistance to AI isn't a technology problem. It's an identity problem.



I've coached hundreds of executives through AI adoption. The ones who struggle aren't lacking intelligence or resources. They're protecting something deeper.

Here's what they're really afraid of:

➤  "I don't know enough about AI" = 
❌ "If I admit I need to learn, I prove I'm not the expert I'm supposed to be."

➤ "AI will replace human connection" = 
❌ "If machines can do what I do, what makes me valuable?"

Every barrier is disguised as practical. 
Every hesitation is rooted in identity protection.

The reframe that changes everything:

✅ AI won't replace human connection. It reveals who was actually connecting vs. just processing. 

✅ The cost of learning AI is measured in hours. The cost of avoiding it is measured in irrelevance. 

✅ Ethical risks are real. They're also solvable by informed leaders, not absent ones. 

✅ Change doesn't erase your expertise. It's the vehicle for applying it at scale.

Leaders who frame AI adoption as "risky" are often the same leaders who framed remote work as "impossible," digital transformation as "unnecessary," and vulnerability as "unprofessional."

They weren't wrong about the challenges. 
They were wrong about which risk was bigger.

The question I ask leaders every day: 
"Are you protecting your team from real risk, or protecting your identity from discomfort?"

✅ Because here's the truth, nobody's saying:
Your team isn't waiting for you to master AI before they start using it. They're waiting for you to create an environment where they can admit they're using it.

Now, whether you admire or roll your eyes at him, something is fascinating 
here... even the wealthiest man alive still needs a carrot.

Because that’s the secret most leaders forget — we all do better when something’s pulling us forward AND something’s pushing us to grow.

• The carrot gives us direction.
• The stick gives us discipline.
• And authentic leadership requires both.

Musk’s “carrot” is a trillion-dollar prize. His “stick” is the pressure of a global audience waiting for him to either redefine the future—or flame out trying.

For most of us, the stakes aren’t billions, but the psychology is the same.
• Without a worthy carrot, we drift.
• Without a healthy stick, we coast.
• Without both, we stop evolving.

The shift from one-on-one conversations to mass email layoffs isn't about efficiency. It's about emotional avoidance disguised as operational necessity.

Let's be clear: "Streamlining operations" and "limiting communal emoting" are corporate euphemisms for "we don't want to feel what we're doing to you."

We've optimized ourselves out of our humanity. Leaders justify mass notifications by calling them efficient. But efficiency is a metric for processes, not people. When you treat a layoff like a software update—silent, remote, transactional—you're not protecting the business. You're protecting yourself from the discomfort of accountability.

The real cost isn't the time saved. It's the trust destroyed.

Every impersonal layoff sends a message to the people who remain: You are expendable. And when your time comes, you won't even warrant a conversation.

That's not culture optimization. 
That's culture erosion.

If you can't look someone in the eye (or on a screen) and tell them their role is ending, maybe the problem isn't the format of the conversation—it's that you don't want to feel what you're doing.

The Lessons I've Been Teaching My Kids (That Most Adults Still Need to Learn)



As parents, realizing that raising kids isn’t just about preparing them for the world — it’s about remembering what the world has slowly made us forget.

I found this list online, and it really spoke to me, especially as I lost my dad to cancer at the age of 19, leaving me to remember all the wisdom he could share in such a short time. 

Every day, my wife and I try to give our two kids a set of truths to live by.

Simple enough for a child to grasp.
Powerful enough for any adult to still need.

Here are a few lessons we want them to carry — and maybe we all should, too:

1. Always keep your word.
↳ I tell my kids: when you say something, mean it. Because the moment you break your word, people stop believing your voice — and start measuring your silence.
✅ Trust is the real currency of life. Adults forget that.

2. Learn to be comfortable alone.
↳ In a world that sells distraction, solitude is a superpower. If you can’t sit quietly with yourself, you’ll chase the wrong people and wrong goals just to fill the noise.
✅ Stillness builds strength; silence builds self.

3. Respect is a mirror — it starts at home.
↳ It’s easy to post about kindness and equality. It’s harder to show it in your tone, your patience, your daily interactions.
✅ If you can’t model respect for those closest to you, you can’t demand it from the world.
