Who we become is not just about reaching our own potential, it’s about helping others reach theirs too. Yes, becoming our best self matters. But sometimes, we need to push past our comfort zones not just for ourselves but for the people counting on us. I didn’t fully understand my purpose until I started aligning what I did with my core values. Service to others was always important to me, but for a long time, none of my jobs truly fulfilled that. It wasn’t until I focused on how I could serve, not just succeed, that everything began to fall into place. Because when you lead with service, the impact ripples far beyond you: • Someone’s life was saved because you became a nurse. • Someone found healing because you became a therapist. • Someone became a first-generation college graduate because you chose to teach. • Someone believed in themselves for the first time because you took the time to mentor them. • Someone dared to dream bigger because you shared your story. Every day, your courage to become your best self has the power to change lives you may never even know about. It’s not just about becoming who you were meant to be. It’s about helping others become who they were meant to be too. So if you ever doubt yourself, remember this: The work you do matters. The life you lead matters. You matter, more than you know. Keep going. Someone out there needs you to be exactly who you are becoming. People don’t recognize me anymore. I’m no longer the people pleaser who once based my worth on other people’s approval. I’m not the giver who surrounded myself with takers — who took till I had nothing left. I’m not the employee who stayed in situations where I wasn’t appreciated or valued. They don’t recognize me because I outgrew that version of me that tolerated too much for too little. Today, I’m someone who chooses peace over proving. Alignment over approval. And self-respect over fear. I’ve learned that boundaries aren’t walls—they’re bridges back to myself. They protect my energy, my time, and my purpose. Setting them isn’t selfish, it’s self-preservation. Growth can be lonely sometimes because people don’t always grow with you. But don’t let that stop you. In Do This Daily, I write: “If you keep shrinking to fit into the life you’ve outgrown, don’t be surprised when you start suffocating.” Keep expanding. Keep choosing you. Life isn’t a race. So stop comparing yourself to the people you see here on LinkedIn. On your deathbed, I promise you, you’re not going to care about how many followers you have and or what title you have. There’s no finish line you need to cross first to win. The goal isn’t just to climb the ladder, get the title, or collect achievements like trophies. The real goal is who you become along the way. Are you someone you would be proud of? Someone your children—or the people you mentor—would look up to? Because at the end of the day, your character matters more than your calendar. Your values matter more than the things you have. Your impact matters more than your income. Success isn’t about how fast you go. It’s about how aligned you are with your purpose, your people, and your principles. So today, ask yourself: Am I becoming the kind of person my younger self would be proud of? Because that’s what truly matters, Raindrops.
