Good Innovation works with charities and companies to create lasting relationships with their supporters. My role as an Innovation Consultant was to plan, manage and run innovation projects in collaboration with our clients. 

The projects consisted of coaching internal interdisciplinary teams in innovation (both with the methodology and the mindset). As well as researching, testing, designing and evaluating new services and products to disrupt their current product portfolios. The aim in all projects was to find the sweet spot between internal assets, the charity mission and market potential to make sure these organisations can keep funding their lifesaving work in the future.

In designing digital services I used a variety of design and research methods from interviews and workshops to prototyping and testing concepts to make sure that the UX and service promise for the customers can be fulfilled with a matching set of thoughtfully designed internal processes.

When a week in life changes everything... 👇👇👇


Last week I got back to something I didn't even realize I had missed 👉facilitating sprints! 

Me and Josue Citalan had such a great time with our incredible participants, that the sprint ended up being much more than what we imagined.

Those of you who don't know, design and build sprints are all about opening your mind, and exploring new ways of thinking and doing things. It's 5 days of building something from nothing.

One most beautiful parts about the work I do, is that it's a two way street. 🙏 

Working to serve others opens up blockers and ideas within me as well as for the people I am working with.

And working on a sprint on Ethical AI Governance brought up some deeply rooted goals and values that had been pushed down for way too long. 🙈

Needless to say the time is now. I won't spoil exactly what is coming just yet 🙃 but the three words to describe how I feel post-sprint are:

*Grateful*
*Inspired*
*Aligned*

This week I was reminded of just how insanely brave it is to not only present in front of an audience (something most people are now handing off to AI avatars 😅), but present in front of an audience about a complex professional topic, in a language you learned outside childhood and/or your family context.

The amount of courage it takes to take a stage and present to mostly native speakers about a deeply complex professional topic in a language that requires you to not only focus on the topic *but the words* is something I don't think we give people enough credit for.

I mean, imagine that moment when you're blanking and can't quite find the right word... But with 2-3 languages circling inside your head, and knowing that the audience is probably just thinking you're stupid. 😱

OR translating idioms and phrases you use in another language on the fly WHILE trying to appear professional?

Now those of you who know, know the pain I'm talking about. 😅

But those of you who don't, take this moment to try and empathize.

If you dread presenting in your first language, can you even imagine how difficult it might be doing it in a foreign one? 😅  

So the next time you see someone using a "funny" word, or fumbling over something while presenting in their second language, just think for a moment how much brain power and courage it takes them to be there presenting in another language in the first place.

2. The one that sets clear expectations for the project.

Most small businesses I know go with template contracts, but the problem is that they rarely reflect the reality of your work. 🤔
 
Contracting can feel daunting, but the better your agreements reflect your real ways of working (and the expectations on both sides) the more likely your project will be a success.
