I was Head of Product for the Innovation group.

We set up:

1. the Firemark Innovation Lab
2. an Accelerator Program within the Lab
3. IAG Ventures, a strategic Corporate Venture Capital (CVC)

I filled several roles during my time at IAG:

- Establishing the Firemark Innovation Labs 

- Establishing a $50m/yr Accelerator Program

- Building the Design Of Experiments (DOE) capability

- Writing the innovation strategy for the $2Bn B2B Division

- Defining the company’s Product Strategy for “Mobility”, “Shelter” and “Work” (adjacencies to home, vehicle and business insurance)

- Developing to the Group’s AI Strategy and Roadmap

- Coaching venture teams in growth marketing

- Leading teams that created 2 ventures that are expected to to do 9-figures in revenue

I was hired to lead Strategy & Delivery for the Membership Commerce Division. My role was to steward the Product Roadmap for a program of work in the order of $100M.

- Business case & architecture for replacement of the Membership CRM

- Commercial and technical architecture for the paywall product

- The paywall product is served to 20m people in Australia. It has 1m paid Members & turns over $150M+/yr

Program Director - Commercial & Digital Technology - Membership & E-Commerce

Needy Children and Orphans Foundation

Whilst travelling in Mwendo, Uganda, the "Mwendo Needy Children and Orphans Project" [MNCOP] was found to be recieving no support from any agency [government or philanthropic]. 

I founded the Needy Children and Orphans Foundation [NCOF] with intent to provide support to the 100 orphans and 400 needy children in need nutrition, clothing, shelter and education. 

NCOF is being registered as a legal entity [expected completion end Mar 08] and will first provide a web presence and e-donation facility to MNCOP.

The nominated board lead by myself is now working to establish the NCOF organisational, operating models and core values. Activities in progress include stakeholder analysis, market analysis and major organisational liaison.

Strategic policy currently under consideration includes investment, sustainability, fund raising, volunteer engagement, marketing, PR, communication, community engagement, benefit distribution, anti-corruption and institutional lobbying.

Transport Management Centre (TMC)

The client was asking for a strategy to renew legacy core systems technology in order to eliminate technology support risks. The business was in a highly fluid state and had recently taken on significant additional responsibility. The ICT strategy and business architecture work allowed the client to make evidence based investment decisions and to establish a clear and shared understanding of the scope of the projects, the benefits that it will deliver and identify additional benefits that were expected but that needed to be programmed into other projects within the strategic project portfolio.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) 

In a high-tempo environment the IT Operations Director needed support in developing business cases to guide investment decisions within a broad set of strategic ICT programs. The programs ranged from immediate problem solving to strategic transformation & innovation initiatives.
	
Roads and Traffic Authority 

Program Manager for a strategic information management program. This program included a data warehouse project for a major government department. This initiative includes 2 technology transformation work streams: a data warehouse component using IBMs Infosphere suite of technologies with Cognos reporting and a GIS web service development initiative involving data format translations and identity enrichment between coordinate, linear reference and geocoded spatial information.
	
Choice (Consumer advocate)

Principal Enterprise Architect for a major digital business transformation program. A business based on subscription and membership needed to move an online, transactional business model and to use cloud technologies. My role was to shape out the overall business and enterprise architectures and to propose a way to innovate in customer life-cycle management and digital marketing.

Queensland Government Chief Information Office

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲: 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 $𝟭𝟱𝟬𝗠 / 𝘆𝗿

Developed the Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture (QGEA) Framework, a pioneering approach to managing the $5.5Bn ICT asset portfolio of the Queensland Government.

Provided expert advice and mentoring to over 20 government departments and their senior executive on using the QGEA and our evidence-based planning methods for strategic ICT planning and developing EA capability maturity. This provided comprehensive guidance for cost reduction, strategic transformation and digital innovation programs across the sector and is estimated to have saved more than $150M.

Led the planning to integrate information architecture across the sector. The government did not have a good handle of its portfolio of information assets or how to integrate them and I was asked to coordinate the information architecture managers from across the sector to develop a strategy that would enable the government’s Right To Information reforms (like GIPPA in NSW). 

Represented the Queensland Government, The Department of Premier & Cabinet and the Treasury on all COAG programs with a technology & innovation component.

Manager, Strategic Policy and Enterprise Architecture 

Working in the Program Management Office, primarily focussed on development of portfolio, program and project management accross agency. Focus is on ICT governance but recently begun to include major scientific, construction, infrastructure and business programs &amp; projects. 

Also lead the implementation of Enterprise Architecture for the business.

Manage $75M application portfolio for NRW and oversee the project assurance activities for NRW. Provide advice and review for key projects, documentation, technical plans and project governance. Currently working on the development of a project assurance framwework and developing a complementary software QA framework to guide, streamline and integrate software intensive projects.

Leading establishment of an Enterprise Architecture at NRW as De facto Enterprise Architect. This integrates with whole-of-government ICT strategy while contextualised for the special nature of NRW which leads QLD's spatial community and so has a huge usage of GIS systems and so a v. challenging need for quality metadata regimes.

I served in the Army and Special Forces Task Groups leading teams of 80+ and managing Defence communication systems equipment valued at $50m+. I filled several roles during my time in the Services:

Major projects and achievements:

- Design, configuration, permanent installation and operation of Defence communication systems including the headquarters & diplomatic embassies in Iraq, Afghanistan and East Timor.

- Design, purchase, installation and deployment of a short-notice globally deployable telecommunications system capable of providing secure, encrypted, Government classified voice, data and video-teleconferencing anywhere on Earth. 

- Install backbone communications for the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor [UNTAET]. My role was to conduct the installation of a nation-wide Cisco router based IP backbone to provide a backbone router system [BRS] for UNTAET operations. This was the first ever nationwide VoIP network and is still in use today by the East Timor people. 

- In recognition of my work in Defence I have received 6 honours on the Australian Honours and Awards system, as well as the United Nations Service Medal, a Land Commander’s Commendation for excellence, the Soldier’s Medallion and a Meritorious Unit Citation for sustained outstanding service.
